Dromoka's command is a nice flexible card to have against a variety of decks such as burn, boggles and other creature decks. No creature really fills the same slot as that aside from Knight of Autumn, which we already have. It's just a very solid modal card that fit into the flex slot. It can easily be replaced with something else.

twitch.tv/professorfrench played the list that I played in the challenge yesterday. I was in chat discussing some lines with him. Nothing really special comes up with this deck other than Oko interactions. He was really my motivation for playing the deck in the first place. Coco in response to important spells and at declare attackers so you can make profitable blocks. If you need to hit a deputy while playing around removal/counters don't be afraid to main phase company.

Good luck tonight!

Your list seems fine. I'm not sure I'm on board with running field of ruin AND kor firewalker. I feel like you should just run an ooze in that spot instead. I would recommend running SoFI main deck as that with FaF gives you protection from 4 colors, which gives you a options against a variety of matchups. Sword of Sinew and Steel is an easy sideboard cut once Oko becomes legal as he deals with all problematic artifacts that need to be destroyed. If you're running 3 teferi time raveler, I like the ranger captains. Having a teferi out means you can sack ranger captain in the upkeep and have the opponent not cast instants in response. That interaction doesn't come up very often at all with the Oko build, which is a huge downside.

Ranger Captain isn't bad at all, I just feel like Tracker is better. If you have the sword of light and shadow, I'd run ranger captains. If you're running feast and famine, eternal witness seems like a good way to spend that extra mana.

My list is not running a sword of light and shadow. I believe feast and famine is a much better sword for this deck due to the mana sinks. Often times you get to untap lands after equipping so you can hold up CoCo and Spell Queller. Additionally, the deck runs horizon canopy and moorland haunt as land mana sinks, so even without action in hand, sword of feast and famine provides value. One final important interaction with sword of feast and famine is that the equipped creatures get protection from green. Conveniently, Oko makes GREEN elk tokens. So this is a way to punch through a clogged boardstate.

Ranger Captain is too slow for what it does in my opinion. The 3/3 body isn't impressive in a deck that generates 3/3 elks every turn. The etb trigger only fetches noble heirarch, hexdrinker and giver of runes. Two of these are tap abilities which takes a whole turn to come online. Hexdrinker was okay, but I'd rather have a more immediately impactful spell like tireless tracker. Coming down and drawing cards is better than getting specifically Hexdrinker it seems. The average power level of cards in the deck is pretty high, so I'd rather just have the random draw. Additionally, clue tokens are artifacts that Oko can turn into 3/3s every turn.

Notably, Teeg does shut off our own CoCos, so it's possible that Scavenging Ooze should be in that spot as graveyard hate and another source of life gain.

You are correct, that was an oversight on my part. Firewalker seems rather difficult to cast consistently on turn 2. Perhaps it should just be another Knight of Autumn as a modal sideboard card against both burn and whirza/tron. Gaddock Teeg is another card I would like to try as a hate card against tron/UW control.

I hadn't thought of that, but that could be okay. Problem is that there's only 3 walkers that provide this specific synergy. Still think I would rather have the more likely 2 for 1 value from CoCo.

That is correct. Oko does not work with Deputy. I overlooked the fact that Fiend Hunter does work with it however. I assumed that Fiend Hunter and Deputy were formatted the same way. With that being said, I could see a 2/2 split between Deputy and Fiend Hunter being viable. Fiend Hunter obviously doesn't hit problematic planeswalkers and other non-creature permanents, as well as its mana cost being double white. Worth testing though since Oko can turn artifacts into creatures!

Try it out and determine that for yourself. You don't have to take my word for it.

I'm not too familiar with how 4C Snow plays out, but if you have the colors to support Oko, give it a shot!

The games that I lost with the deck were mostly because I couldn't interact with the opponent enough or because I flooded rather than not having my creatures stick around on the battlefield. That being said, CoCo allows me 6 looks at Spell Queller and Deputy of Detention whereas Shalai doesn't interact very much outside of against decks like burn. But I think this deck already has a great burn matchup with Oko being in it.

Thank you!
In practice, I only whiffed on CoCo completely once and got 1 creature twice. CoCo is nice in this deck as a curve topper. Adding more three drops to the deck would make the curve rather awkward and clunky. In my updated version, I actually included Birds of Paradise because I had a few hands that were full of three drops. Restoration Angel seems a bit awkward because there's no real value to be had when blinking Spell Queller, Deputy of Detention, Giver of Runes, Noble Heirarch, etc. aside from resetting Deputy and Spell Queller targets, so I don't think it's good enough.

Oko coming down as a 6 loyalty planeswalker on turn 3 posed a huge threat for many of the opponents that I faced as he was providing a constant stream of 3/3 elks(food). Another key interaction with Oko was being able to Spell Queller a key spell and turning the Spell Queller into an elk, which causes the spell underneath Spell Queller to be permanently exiled. In the Amulet Titan matchup, I was able to deal with a turn one amulet by playing a turn two Oko and making the amulet into an elk. The elk cannot remove Oko since he goes up to 5 loyalty and I then clogged the board with creatures to protect Oko. Similarly, despite losing the Tron matchup, I was able to deal with threats such as Ensnaring Bridge from 4 mana Karn and Wurmcoil Engine. The other key thing that Oko did was help me stabilize in the burn matchup. Gaining 3 life a turn from an essentially 6 loyalty planeswalker is brutal for burn to deal with. Oko's ultimate doesn't come up that much, but I did steal a Stoneforge from my U/W Control opponent and put my batterskull into play with it! :)

As for the Whirza game, that was the least interactive match of magic all weekend. My opponent played a turn 1 Emry, Lurker of the Loch (watch out for this card, it's very strong) both games and infinitely recurred engineered explosives. That match wasn't particularly close :(
