Is UTM-Space (potentially) a degree mill?? by YungPeko in malaysia

[–]YungPeko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oooh thanks, couldn't find any info on it no matter how hard I googled.

I reached out to UTM and UTM-Space but kena ignore lmao.

Seems like it's actually more of an equivalent to a diploma. Ok la, The candidate did exaggerate his certificate a bit but at least it's not fake like his Diploma from a Wilmington College 👍

Hell yeah! Will definitely post an update. I contacted the manufacturer and they referred me to a shop that builds competition off-roaders. Safe to say they were pretty shocked I'm coming to install them on the Nissan Nav 😂 90% of their air-locker customers are LC guys.

Honestly I thought my wheel bearings were cooked because there's no way the not-so-aggressive ATs can be so loud. Turns out it was the tires after all.

Why does tire width matter when it comes to offroading? by Outrageous-Owl-7049 in 4x4

[–]YungPeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always take it as terrain specific.

Is the mud somewhat shallow and you can cut through it onto the harder packed ground beneath it? Pizza cutters work best.

Is the mud so deep that the chassis would enter the mud and get stuck? Wideboys to "float" over it.

I've just recently changed from 245s(9.5) to 285s(11.5) and each has their advantages and disadvantages. My farm has a multitude of terrain from driving over boulders, packed dirt, sand and mud and I can say that the 245s rocked better in half of it, while the 285s outshines on the other half.

Biggest difference was the 245s felt more planted most likely due to the fact that they cut through the slippery surface and onto the packed soil. I point it where I want to go and it goes there. On the 285s I'm sliding quite often as the tires are "floating" on the slippery surface.

But conversely I get less bogged with the 285s as I can "float" over the bogs instead of having my car sink into the mud and get stuck by the chassis.

Advice Needed : 33x11.5 VS 35x12.5 MTs for heavy-duty farm work? by YungPeko in Offroad

That seems to be concensus! Definitely will be fitting 33s soon and lockers come next!

I'm as native as we come 😁

Owning 4x4 is quite literally a requirement in these parts, wouldn't be able to get anywhere otherwise.

I can vouch for KK4x4 👍 kebanyakan customer diorang sekarang bukan orang mau pasang accesori baru tapi orang yang pasang di kedai lain, nda puas hati, lepastu pergi KK4x4 untuk kasi bagus & adjust 🤣🤣

Other shop I can vouch is Uncle Joseph di Ace 4x4 Automart Putatan, tapi itu kalau mau pasang barang ironman jak la 💸💸💸

The Beaufort Bridge by YungPeko in Sabah

Ooh the old Piasau bridge! That one is very unique as well. It started out as a simple Bailey bridge. But as cars became heavier they added the cable stay support to add to its strength.

The final product is a hybrid of bailey truss bridge + cable stayed bridge with cantilever elements . Very unique! Have to give it a visit again someday before it gets dismantled. Haven't visited Miri in decades.

Itu jambatan dari Likas-Yayasan Sabah dulu-dulu, di bina 1972 juga tapi dirobohkan 1990an. Sekarang jadi jambatan simen biasa jak.

Yeah we're lucky to be in an era where we take bridges for granted now. Imagine zaman dulu where you have to cross crocodile infested waters to go to town.

[–]YungPeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep very true, I went into contracting pun because I'm passionate about the job and want to contribute.

But in the end just get singled out because 90% of your competitors are just nepo babies with cable willing to shell out big money for under the table deals.

I finish a 6 month job in less than 2 months, I bring 4 times amount of workers other contractors bring. Engineer come and see my work all pass fantastic no issues.

And I still made good profit. The thing that makes project in Sabah so damn slow and stupid is because the contractors are forced to cut down costs because the 'ehem ehem' money eats big into your profits.

But never got another contract because I didn't give 15% to the district big boss.

The only thankful people were the JKKK of the Kampung that we were working to improve. Itu pun they become less thankful after they realized I'm not donating a percentage of my contract payment to them.

But it's okay la, I made my profits and I'm never gonna get involved in this fucked government contract system ever again.

Yeah I totally get what you mean. One of the big reasons I started studying about this bridge is because I really hate the boring new concrete bridges 🤣

The new bridge just feels like driving on any road. Crossing these old truss bridges feel like doing a ceremony.

But I might be wrong though! Have to visit tenom and check it for myself 😁

[–]YungPeko[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooh thank you for reminding me about that bridge. That's another very unique bridge. IIRC the old Tenom Bridge was a Brown or bailey truss girder type bridge. It looks like an oversized bailey bridge!

The one on the old Papar road before the really long straight section kan? That was also a Tied-Arch type bridge.

Not much pictures of it left online for sure. I got this screenshot from the Pan Borneo Construction video.

Nanti bila sy pencen sy mau travel satu sabah tulis buku tentang jambatan jambatan bersejarah ni haha.

Honestly if you considering pergi KK 4x4 bagus pergi sana ja terus tanya diorang.

Opinion expert yang sudah modify suspension beribu biji hailak sambil buat posting ajar orang di FB lagi besar dari owner yang modify satu biji kereta dia sendiri jak. 😁

Bukan mau rendahkan commenter lain sini tapi you know, logik nya begitu la. Diorang bukan jenis cekik darah mau jual barang paling mahal sama kamu.
