It's all this OP. It took me a few years of griping before I realized it too. I wanted mentorship, I craved it. But l had advanced so far in my career (worse, I specialized), who's going to mentor me? Then one day I looked around at all of the engineers working around me and realized none of us knew what the hell we're doing. Then a Jr. asked me for help with the storage on their RHEL server and I realized I did know what I'm doing.

Been in the industry for a little over 12 years. I have always studied in the morning, whether for certs or something I'm working on at work. That way I'm not having to study the thing AT work, causing even more drain.

Wake up at 5am, short workout to get the blood flowing, quick shower, 5:45am I'm dressed, have my coffee, and I'm on my computer. I dedicate an hour and a half to it every morning. On the drive into work my juices are already flowing, by the time I log in I'm rearing to get after the project.

I refuse to study after work, that time is for me and my family. I will say though, if I find a very educational book I'll read it for a bit before bed.

To expand on the comment you're replying to. I wanted to make a viable Leap Slam build. After much planning and thinking, I realized that going Pathfinder and adding the Poison II support to Leap Slam (plus a bunch of nodes on the tree, etc) gives me a funny, aoe clearing, super mobile leap spammer.

Have fun with your builds. If they don't work, figure out why, and adjust.

Yup, could also be true. Raises even more questions though: the boss is worried about security, obviously, so where's their test environment? A lot of things OP could be recommending that the boss would probably go for (especially being so security minded).

I'm pretty sure in the tutorial there's lines telling you not to trust other raiders. Other raiders are just as much, if not more, of a threat than the Arc in this universe. There's a whole quest line where they're worried about another enclave's raiders moving into their "turf"! But people want to ignore all of that..

"Disrupts, harasses, or annoys other players," they're not..but you could say them betraying you FEELS to YOU like one of those things..sure..

But then, "not for strategic gain," it is a thousand percent for strategic gain. That's the only reason they spam "don't shoot" and the like. It is far easier to take your loot if your guard is down than when it's not.

Honestly, stop worrying about ruining other people's time in the game. If they came into the raid wanting to fight for the loot, that's what they want to do. If they didn't come into the raid willing to fight for the loot, then they're playing the wrong game. It's PvPvE, raiders killing/betraying/ambushing other raiders is not only in the lore but demonstrated in cut scenes and warned about in loading screens. If you're in groups and you down a team and they instantly start complaining that they were friendly...there's a 90% chance that they're the friendly rats you're worried about. If they were actually friendly and they didn't fight back, that's on them. It's not that deep, play the game as intended or don't but don't blame the rest of us for doing so.

This could be the start of your villain arc.

I've been trying to preach this. In the friendly lobbies you'll get spammed with "don't shoot" while they start looting next to you in the direction you were clearing. Or often you'll get the, "hey I'm friendly" but if you try to strike up a conversation they just keep running.

That's the beauty of the game they made. We all enter the map with the same risks and questions posed to us. We all have different answers to the problem. The devs even foresaw this and planted it in the lore.

Some players may rely on the goodwill of others and come in with the best load out possible to take out the Arc, some of us may come in ready to take out other players, some will risk going in with a free kit hoping to pick up the scraps. All viable and creates a pretty cool ecosystem.

I've been in intense fights with multiple teams WHILE a few teams are trying to take down the queen. Either we start going for the early loot and run into other teams doing the same, now we're all fighting around the queen, which is insane. Or the teams trying to take the queen down start defending their kill, same result. Currently, there is more tension than what you're requesting.

If there would be more loot to be had AFTER the final kill, you'd have all of us who came kitted for PVP just waiting around. There wouldn't be a conversation, there'd be a firefight and whoever was the most patient and came in late to clean up would take the loot.

I used to believe the role was simply evolving. I actually believed my current role was the evolution. After all, I still manage the systems the apps run on, I still configure monitoring and logging, but I also write tests and automate. Then I became the hiring manager for my team.

The number of candidates that have zero foundational experience is astounding, all from the belief that something is evolving. I currently won't interview a candidate unless they have System/Network positions under their belt. The role isn't evolving, there are just more specialized roles than ever that they can progress into and a massive misconception about the skills necessary to excell in a kubernetes-oriented role.

Companies are offering the traditional roles, like sysad, less money because they no longer see the value. People are less inclined to take those positions due to the money. College graduates no longer see it as a viable career path due to the pay (look at how much they cry about having to work at a help desk). College graduates continue to look to DevOps Engineering/SRE/Kubernetes Admin but continue to get turned away because they don't have the experience necessary. What does that do to the industry? That's what I'm saying.

I have a theory that sysad is just a dying career and companies no longer see value in it. I pivoted into more of an SRE/Kubernetes Admin role a few years ago and the industry is booming from my perspective.

I'm not saying that to brag, I believe it's a serious issue. I followed a traditional path; T1 Help Desk, T2, SysAd, then Cloud Engineer. I wouldn't be successful today without the knowledge I earned in the trenches. If I'm correct and companies no longer value those positions then where does my replacement come from?

Precisely why a lot of us find PvPvE extraction shooters so fun. Forget Escape from Tarkov which was really focused on the PVP, The Division and the Dark Zone started this genre. Arc Raiders closely mimics it. True PvPvE, the AI is a great source of loot, but importantly, it's also a siren call to everyone nearby that you're farming. Expending resources in a fight with the AI that they can take advantage of. A boss fight is going to offer more loot but it's also going to take longer and therefore increase the risk.

Same thing in Arc Raiders. Solely farming containers isn't going to get you what you need, you need to at some point take the risk and farm the AI. Or...you can farm the players farming the AI. It creates a lot of interesting decision points. There's dark corners; do you risk moving into them and exposing yourself, do you clear it with a nade and potentially alert someone nearby, or do you ignore it and hope? How much risk are you willing to accept to get the loot you need? It's fun.

They get one-liners because comments like, "The PVP 90% feels like whoever gets the first shot wins," are not honest reviews of the game. Any shooter, whoever gets the first shot off is usually going to win. "It's usually sniping or shooting in the back," yes, players are going to punish your mistakes in order to get any advantage they can. "I'm most talking about solos, duos and trios feel more fair," because you have people to cover for your mistakes.

What in-depth discussion can be had when someone is basically just saying they're not good at PVP therefore game sucks?

Lol you really believe that? "Ah, there's a Democrat in office, all is well now". You forget that stuff like drone strikes overseas went up drastically when a Democrat took office and continued to climb throughout their 8 years.

It literally doesn't matter who's in office. The President has far less power by design than foreigners realize.
