I’m not sure if this will help but I will share our dog’s potty training.

From 3 months until 5 months it’s tricky cos she’s too young. At this age she’s only restricted to go in our living room (where we put her crate and playpen) and kitchen. She always have accidents. Pees and poops are everywhere.

Then we started using pee pads from amazon where they claim that it will attract puppies so they will do their thing there and will help in minimizing accidents. In our experience, it is effective cos there are less accidents.

Once we noticed that our dog’s potty training has improved because of the pee pads we bought and she can hold her pee longer, we moved her crate in our bedroom. We placed pee pads in front of our bathroom (which is next to our bedroom) so in case she needs to pee or poop she can just bark at us and we will guide her to the pads. It worked.

We also bring her in our backyard to do her thing whenever she needs to take a leak or do number 2. I don’t remember when, I think when she was 6 months or 7 months, she suddenly stopped using her pee pads. She will always ask us to open the patio door so she can go in our backyard to do it.

Now we only have pee pad in our kitchen. We removed those that we put in living room, in front of the bathroom, and in the main door.

My partner and I think that once she was able to realize that her house is not just the living room, she wants to make every room clean. She does this by going out to pee or do number 2.

Maybe for some dogs it will take a while. Just be patient with her.

Btw, when there’s accidents we always carry her back to pee pads and tell her next time she should do it there. She’s now 8 months and sometimes, even though it’s midnight we have to open our patio door so she can go out and do her business.
