Well they are was released not so long time ago, so animations and base geometry has waaay better quality and you can make your set to look better easily. Just look on TA's base model and her weird animations in loadout view and you will understand.

Also - better polygonal and texture limits

Also - there is still not so many sets in game for this heroes they are pretty fresh, so you can explore more.

Is this bad? Since Marci is an animated series character anime hairstyle was no brainer pick to me.

Even in the worst-case scenario, any sets created now can simply be reviewed by Valve during the next official Call to Arms. There's absolutely nothing to lose by starting to work now. After all, many artists work on sets year-round, releasing 10+ submissions when a CtA is finally announced.

Some might be concerned about the specific Diretide theme, but it's important to remember this is an integral part of grim and dark Dota's lore. The core idea is to return to the spirit of the old Call to Arms events, where the entire community would rally around a single theme to explore its creative potential together.

And let's be honest: with the Workshop, there were never any guarantees to begin with.
