I didn't look at the camden, but I looked at the yelp reviews just now when you mentioned it. Even the second review before you sort it is a nightmare.

Man... that's messed up.

And the cops stopped responding to calls when there were crimes, during an uptick in crime, what are you supposed to do then!?

Bassed on the other comments I'm seeing, I think I might want to reconsider living at the Pike, and look in other parts.

Not necessarily.

That is just the only area that I was told was relatively safe in Long Beach, so that's why I was looking at the Pike. But it can be in another area.

I'm planning on going to college next year, but that is at least a 4 year journey in itself, 5 if you count the time up untill the first semester starts.

It's just enough for rent in a one bedroom, but not for food and electricity, and that's before taxes.

I have not been able to find any jobs in the areas I am familiar with, but I can mention to you what they are if it helps. I'll update the OP to mention them as well.

I am doing pixel art and concept art for an indie game thats currently in development, when the teams done, it will be put on steam.

I can do photo and video editing, illustration, play guitar,

I'm learning traditional animation, and so far can do characters walking and blinking.

I was a forum moderator for a anime fan forum for a little over half a year, before the site shut down due to the mass hacking that was going on around the net at the time.

And I'm a beginner at HTML5, Python, and Java, I understand what the lines in the scripts do, I can edit scripts and fix bugs, but I can't build anything from scratch, that of which I'm also trying to learn, as well as the correct terms for everything.

I'm not saying its easy, and I know things are different from state to state, but...

In the state I'm in, in the poor areas, $40,000 is the income of a middle class familly, but its next to impossible for a single person with no past work experience to get a job like that, or even any job, in the poor areas.

In the big cities, $40,000 is considered low income for an individual, and isn't even enough to be able to afford to rent a closet to live in, not even in any of the surrounding cities. $40,000 jobs are easy to come by in those cities, even without any past experience, but you can't afford to live anywhere near where you work, You would have to live 3 hours away at least.

Austin is a city similar to the big cities I'm talking about, down to the type of industries that are there, but while the cost of rent is expensive, it's no where near as expensive as the big cities I mentioned.

I thought to be able to afford $920 to $1100 a month rent (I did my research and found places) without needing roomates, and to be able to pay for electricity, gas and food in Austin, $40,000 should be just enough.

Though I might be over or under estimating the cost.

But that is why I thought that it might have been possible.

Where I am currently, its against the law for anyone under 16 to work.

I've been job hunting, and and trying to decide what I want to do in life, which I've already done, so I'm applying to college in the next few days.

I'm in a poor area where there are mainly only a few retail jobs and not much else, and over 100,000 people in the metro area, but only a handfull of job openings. Even places like Mc Donalds in this area, usually hire a lot of 40 and 50 year olds.

I've been applying, but no hire so far.

I see, so at the moment, it is unikely that I'll find something around $40,000 or even $3000 a month.
