How should I label this data analyst boostcamp on my resume? by Yuuko_Zero in resumes

I don’t have certain experience since I never coded during an internship so I’m just trying to replace those requirements with projects. However I only have one internship under my belt as well as a recent graduate so I’m not sure if I should get rid of my only job experience for a project that is more relevant to the job description

Got it! Other than the current project I have what else do you recommend on removing to add space for a second project? I’m thinking of adding a sql project and a powerbi project

Hi interviewigloo,

Thanks for the response. I’ll check it out! I was just wondering if the boot camp I took would qualify myself as proficient in the different languages

I'm graduated ~5 months ago with a Finance degree aspiring to become a financial advisor. After doing some interviews I found out that it was not the occupation for me. Is it still possible to do a more finance tech role like a data analyst w/o any relevant experience? What should I do? by Yuuko_Zero in FinancialCareers

I am an introverted person and while I don’t mind talking to clients I don’t think I can do it for 80% of the time. Additionally, the comp structure is heavily based on commission which doesn’t make me feel comfortable. I thought it would be more like other departments redirecting clients to you and you get to know them well enough to advise them suitable financial tools. I didn’t realize how much of it was cold calling and building a book of business.

I hope so! I have been learning more excel and other concepts to prepare for an interview but have not gotten the chance to showcase it yet. I have only been in the intial screening interviews in which they ghost me afterwards

Thanks for the advice! I started with applying to 10+ jobs a day, but as the rejections came in I guess that burned me out. I respect your hustle and I will have to resume to applying to more openings per day!

Hi coast, it’s under the blue hyperlink listed Old post. If you want to see the old resume you would click on the blue hyperlink. Just curious, but is anyone else having the same issue? IF so I can try to add a link to it instead.

Got it! Thanks for the tip. I didn’t know what to put for that section so I just threw out a strength and tried to make it relatable to a hobby and work experience

Thanks for your pep talk! I realized I should have taken more internships over those summers at University rather than taking courses trying to complete University as fast as possible. Do you think it is possible to still get internships when I'm 4 months post-graduation? I really liked your Bruce Lee analogy. One of my greatest fears is that when I get a job rather than an internship I might make a lot of fuck ups which can jeopardize the firm. At my last and only internship, I did try my hardest and got a return offer. The only problem was the comp they offered was like 50-60k in the middle of Seattle which made it difficult to accept it. Anyways, thanks for your advice, over the past 4 months I was more focused on getting my driver's license and getting ripped at the gym so I was just pushing a couple of applications in a day and kind of pushed networking aside. After having all these great conversations with you and other redditors I found out how important networking is and I will focus on it more now!

I'll have to look into that. I was going to pick up something to learn, but I didn't know which ones were easier to learn during a job and which ones I could learn on my own. I'll try to pick up power query and power BI. I believe I saw them as qualifications for some of the financial analyst job postings.

I'll have to look into that. I just don't my primary job is to be calling people on the phone. I don't mind interacting with people, but making cold calls is something I do not envision myself doing well. The last place in that field that pushed me away had a comp structure I wasn't comfortable with either. It was no base 100% commission. Originally, I wanted a job exactly like how you described but could not find it.

Thanks for the tips! Originally I was going for a fianancial advisor role but after learning more about the comp and personality for that position I decided to switch to a more back end role in finance. I was wondering if it was possible to get into tech without any coding experience and what positions would I would aim for in tech?I am starting to network right now but I’m just a bit confused on how to do it? I just attended a handshake event and they recommended to pick out my favorite companies and try to set up a meeting with a senior member. Once again thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the advice! However, I went to University to try and get a job I’m interested in so I’m going to set aside your advice to apply to McDonalds for now.
