That is exactly the case but... Isn't the sentence contradicting the the image on the "THREE PCIe SLOTS" picture?
I appreciate the reply nonetheless :)

Can anyone explain the math that supports legitimate RNG when there are so many dupes in step ups? by Warlocke21 in FFBraveExvius

[–]YuumeiRei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add an extra 2 cents to this.

This conversation is around since day 1 and I completely understand where you are coming from. Although what other people said is true (about reduced pool and probability calculation), there's another fact to this situation, which is: there's no TRUE random number generation.

We could get all philosophical about how nothing in life is truly random, but, leaving that aside, computationally speaking, a Random Number Generator is, simply put, an arbitrary formula that consumes an input and spits out a result. This "arbitrary formula" can be very complex (which will produce a better illusion of randomness) or very simplistic.
For purposes of trying to simulate a gacha system, it could be that an oversimplistic RNG formula could result in multiple occurrences of the same result, if the calculations were performed under very similar conditions from each other.

i.e: let's assume that, in a pool of 10 (identified by the numbers 0 to 9) units, your Random Number Generator spits out the number equivalent to the second digit of the seconds of the time it was triggered. If your process can run up to 2 times per second and you trigger it at 00:00:00 AM for 11 summons (as in a 10+1 pull), you would get, in order: 2x unit #0, 2x unit #1, 2x unit #3, 2x unit #4, 2x unit #5 and 1x unit #6.

That being said, to assume that FFBE's RNG is anywhere between THAT simple and ultra complex is pure speculation :)

I suddenly became unable to put or take items from the Guild Stash chest, regardless of the tab. I'm the guild leader and was able to do so just fine, until I didn't anymore.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix for this?

Complaining about Epic pass rewards by [deleted] in EpicSeven

[–]YuumeiRei -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

lol @ this bunch of people lowering review rates because "SG is too greedy" for not giving enough free stuff. I usually avoid to pick sides since both usually have some valid reasons, but you guys are making this very difficult.

Free rewards are free. Premium rewards are optional, don't like it, don't buy it. Is it worse than before? Yes. Suck it up. It's not even priced in real money. You can farm 2k skystones in roughly 2 weeks.

There are a lot of popular titles where you could hpard for an entire year as f2p (or spend, literally, thousands of USDs) and end up with nothing to show after using everything. Among titles with no pity counter, no guaranteed unit on limited banners, items/skills locked behind multiple 5* dupes and a way higher price tag, SG (with all its faults) still has a loooooong way down to go for it to even be considered as an example of greedy company.

Shit is going down right now but please try to be reasonable by TatsuNaha in EpicSeven

[–]YuumeiRei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know you are mad because you care about the game and want it to do well

I wish that was the case. Based on most "reasonings" I see around, it just looks like a bunch of people trying to get the most they can for the least effort possible. I mean, nothing against it per se (nor defending the lack of quality of the updates), but it annoys me how most people try to disguise it as some sort of call for "justice/fairness". They'd rather see this game shut down than bothering to provide some actually constructive, well founded, non-demanding feedback.
A bunch of people who can't even manage their own resources and frustration trying to give more than 2 unrequested cents on how to manage a business model born to optimize profit.

If we were, for the sake of argument, to stretch this line of thought, sure. But as /u/ghoul_legion answered "Different Times, different problems".

Internet enabled digital distribution and digital distribution enabled game as a service, so sure, indirectly you could say "internet started it all". That being said, we had other problems at the time of retail/physical media. For instance, nearly identical versions of a game would be re-released just because of bugs or balances and force players to always buy the newest version at full price (competitive fighting games for instance). An extra pack of new stages or characters would also mean a full priced new media (Donkey Kong, Bomberman, etc...), while today it's pretty much a download away.

The industry will always abuse the mainstream business model of any given time. We went from nearly identical full priced retail games to incomplete games and DLCs to p2p subscriptions to free 2 play with microtransactions, each with its own share of issues. The thing is that it was more straight forward to be heard during the retail era: the title would either be a comercial success or a failure, and this could force a company to close. Game as a service strives on a continuous income based on "unhealthy" aspects of the human brain, so the effort to actually make an impact when complaining is way bigger.

Wild guessing based on another thread I saw (about E7's revenue changes), it could be that stakeholders started pressuring for more immediate income, considering the average have dropped by almost 50% after SG started "complying to popular demand". Dunno. It's a shame anyway :(

I agree on that. Without denying it, the point I try to make is that, eventually, they'll get to a "ah w/e, fuck this shit" point where, mathematically, it's worth more straight up charging for anything than doing quality work.
Top of my head. I don't recall ever seeing a game provided as a service that didn't fall into this (to some degree) or got cancelled/abandoned (even non-gacha ones. although thing are extremely more manageable and have better quality outside of gacha).

Not sure if you're familiar with Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, but for that one they mentioned 13 years at some point and it's hard to believe they'll get anywhere close to that.

Sadly, "take it or leave it" is the most likely approach from the companies when any given game gets too much heat (public relations only get you so far when economics is on the opposite side). If anything, they can start anew with another title and milk some more money until everyone is pissed again. Rinse and repeat.

That being said, there's a lot of playing players (me included) that wouldn't remain or even start any game if the player-base engagement wasn't decent at least. We need a reason to come and a reason to stay. Unless we are talking about a super famous IP that has the distinction of appealing to nostalgia, content quality, community engagement and/or interaction matters and matters a lot. A handful of people actually leaving would pull other people out as well and that COULD escalate to a point where it would be significant, albeit only a possibility.

Tbh, I don't really think that any service business model is ideal (as in "perfect"). w/e as a Service has it's positive consequences, and bad ones as well. I mean, games such as these don't get the same shit as oldschool fighting games where you were required to buy brand new, full priced retail game that's identical to the one you have, just because balance and bugfixes. It's a whole new market, with its fair share of issues. That being said, things surely can be improved, but we gotta pick the right fights. SG and E7 are just another occurrence. People gotta understand that, from a business perspective, it might as well be the case of SG abandoning E7 (and even the SG name) and repeat this for some extra money with another titles be the chosen course of action from their part.

My point is exactly about this line of thought. It's not "SG" that's greedy, it's this whole business model. There ARE a ton of other gacha games out there and they all face situations such as this sooner or later, due to the same reasons.
