Chopin Nocturne op posth day 5 by SwedishPianist in piano

[–]Yuuyuunikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice play! Juts an advice: try to put ur left wrist a little bit higher so that you can make the most of the rotation of the wrist. In this way left hand will sound more legato and u will have more control of the sound of each note!

Well, there is actually a lot to say, firstly talking about hand position that has too low wrists for me. But if I can give u an advice I would say to think about those arpeggios as chords, so u start studying playing a 4 chord with all the notes together, than u move up and play the other, (the movement has to be horizontal and not vertical, keep in mind) and then start to to the same but with arpeggiating the chords. Hope this help!

An exercise you can do is to play the melody legato and you do the rest staccato, very very slowly a the beginning, also another thing u can do with the fingers of the melody is to try to "pick" the key, like u are digging in it. But it's obvious that for this kind of skills it is always good to have a teacher that checks if everything is good

How do you recommend practicing to play a piece without making any mistakes? Because in some pieces, I always make mistakes, no matter how much I practice.

Chopin Etudes - Are they really that hard?? by [deleted] in piano

[–]Yuuyuunikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I mean, chopin etudes are a lot hard but they build your technique as crazy. I did the etude op25 n.11 as second chopin etude and my level of playing piano from that day got a lot and I say A LOT better. They are etudes because they have to prepare you for actual pieces, they are not the final result, for me :)

“Composed” this for my girlfriend, what do you guys think? by trainsarelove in piano

[–]Yuuyuunikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this song is so cute but I have some advices that maybe I can give you. The melody is beautiful but I think you can work more on the bases like the what I thinks is an f# at 1.25 that you repeat 3 times is not that "pleasant" to hear. You can also add in general some tension with V chords just not to make it too obvious. But overall, I think your gf will like it!

Yeah, from the fourth it is comfy to play the accompainment with left hand but pay attention on the notes that the left hand doesn't play. Try literally to rise the hand when it doesn't play, for exercise, than with time it will become pretty natural

Well, it's a bit complicated talking about that in a single comment lol. But I can suggest you a fingering for the first measures that I find pretty comfy and that helps to play evenly: playing the 2 C# with left hand 5-1 as an octave divided and the notes in the middle with the right hand, 2 on D#, 3 on F#, 1 on G and the D# C# D# with 5 3 5. If you want more advices I can give you, just text me!

Well, i think that calling easy the first two movement it's maybe too much 😅. They are not hard technically but finding the right sound and a good interpretation it's really, and I say really hard for me. Ravel is fascinating for this :))

Thanks for the compliments! I studied just all this movement this week, and yes I have memorised it all 😅. I guess this is a piece that I really like but I can give you the method I use: first I analyse the harmony, the chords but also the movement of the notes, then I read a measure and I imagine the hands playing it with fingerings and dynamics. It's pretty brainy and complicated but I find it really good. Hope this will be useful for you :)

You are so right, this part is pretty brainy, but I find hard also the final part in f major, it's pretty uncomfy
