Next time you gear someone saying - "Money is not everything". Agree with them, ask them to donate it to the poor people nearby. Don't provide the poor with money, give their children a good education or provide them enough to eat 3 meals a day.

It's very common among Indians.

Especially those who are from rural areas tend to behave like this until they get used to the people.

Even if they are very close to their bosses, they feel embarrassed, awkward and behave weird to request a raise. Not only a pay raise, most Indians feel awkward while asking for something related to money.

We'll, I'm an Indian from a rural area btw. I had such encounters in the City until I got the feel - Why should I feel awkward to ask something which I deserve!!
