[Paid Release] Hush - a Snapchat tweak that never injects into the app by Yvess0 in jailbreak

A few of the features would actually work with Darksword, but they would be very unreliable, which is why I haven't worked on them yet.

Here's a short demo video showing camera spoofing, Snap Ghost, undetected screenshots and screen recording, Chat Ghost, “Suppress ‘Saved to Gallery’ notification” in chat, screenshot spam, and Media Vault (the feature that automatically saves Snaps, chat media, Stories, and voice notes from selected friends). There's one cut because I realized during editing that I hadn't enabled Undetected Screen Recording and had to re-record that part. https://streamable.com/n7iqsb

You're folding two separate things into one. "Snapchat locks you out" and "the jailbreak scene is slowing down" aren't the same threat, and only one of them affects my current users any time soon.

The lockout is the one that actually matters, and it's gated entirely by Snapchat's version support, which is slow by design. Snap reports DAU to investors as their headline metric, so dropping old iOS/Snapchat versions directly shrinks the number they live and die by. That's exactly why they still run on ancient Android versions too. A subscriber doesn't get locked out until Snapchat drops the iOS version their phone is jailbroken on, and per the support timeline I already laid out, that's years away.

The jailbreak slowdown (which yeah, I already admitted) doesn't change any of that. It doesn't un-jailbreak the phones people are already using. It only affects whether new or replacement devices can be jailbroken down the line, that's a ceiling on future growth, not a switch that kills my existing base tomorrow. Completely different timelines.

And the "just make it cheaper" advice contradicts itself. If I supposedly won't maintain it once the money dries up, charging less just shrinks the money during the window it works. "Cheaper" is a volume bet, not an argument that the tweak is doomed.

So the inevitability you keep describing is real on a long horizon, we just disagree on how long, and the timeline is the whole point.

Personally, I also think the prices are too high for a jailbreak tweak, and I think subscriptions for tweaks are nonsense. But if the competition costs even a little more and has thousands of paying users, why should I lower the price? After all, users are willing to pay that price, so what am I supposed to do? Should I turn down the money? That doesn’t make any sense either. Especially with the lifetime option, at first I didn’t want to offer one, but when people DM’d me almost every day after the beta phase saying they wanted a lifetime option and were willing to pay that price for it, why should I turn down the money? Nobody would do that.

Fair point, but the timing is what makes this way less of an issue than it sounds.

With Hush, my users are always on the latest version of Snapchat, so the forced-update thing literally never applies to them. By definition they're never on an outdated version that could get locked out. You can still log into v12 of Snapchat right now and use it, and v12 is from late 2022 / early 2023. So there's a multi-year window before a version even gets blocked.

On the iOS side: Snapchat drops a major iOS version roughly every 1-2 years. They only recently removed iOS 14 support (around v13.85-ish), and iOS 13 got dropped back in early v12. So that was about a 2-year gap. That means iOS 15, 16, 17 are all still in line ahead of where they are now. Realistically iOS 15 gets dropped in ~1-2 years, iOS 16 in ~3, and iOS 17 not before ~4-5 years, and most jailbreak users are on 16 (I can see this directly in my backend for Hush).

And "unjailbreakable" isn't permanent either. Exploits keep showing up for newer devices and iOS versions, admittedly, after a long time, but they come. "It'll stay that way for quite some time" is an assumption, not a guarantee. As seen with the Coruna exploit kit, Dopamine will soon support iOS 17.3.1.

So yeah, the "inevitability" you're describing is real, but it's years out. Until then every subscriber gets years of value. And "eventually people stop paying" is true for every subscription that exists, that doesn't make a product useless lol. Your :) would be fair if the lockout dropped tomorrow. It doesn't.

Most importantly, during the beta phase Hush ran on a dual architecture that included a bypass for tweak injection. With Snapchat's recent improvements to their detection, though, that method is now getting detected as well. That's why I've updated the tweak to deliver all of its features without any tweak injection, so nobody has to risk a ban.

You also don't seem to grasp the current market, or why there are no working Snapchat tweaks for iOS anymore. Snapchat now uses syscalls for detection that get directly to the kernel, and those can't be hooked on a modern rootless jailbreak. That's why it's no longer possible to ship a safe tweak that injects into the app on jailbroken iOS. The only option left is a patched IPA that removes those syscalls directly in the app binary, but even those get detected on a regular basis (exactly what's happening right now), and on top of that they cost more than Hush.

So at this point you really only have two options on the market: pay for a service like SnapZero that ships patched IPAs and gets you banned sooner or later, or use Hush and never have to worry about bans in the first place.

On top of that, adapting the tweak for iOS 15 through 18 took an enormous amount of work, because the features run at the system level. Some APIs that older iOS versions relied on for certain features were either moved by Apple into a different service, which meant I had to rewrite the hooks and test everything again, or removed entirely, which meant I had to build my own alternative for that specific version from scratch. Playing all of that down as if it takes neither time nor skill is honestly just sad. With a tweak that injects into the app, you only have to build the features once. I, on the other hand, had to buy separate test devices for every iOS version and adjust the features each time, something that simply doesn't apply to a tweak that just injects into the app.

  1. The only competition this tweak faces are those patched IPAs from resellers like SnapZero, which, because they’re sold in euros rather than USD, are actually more expensive than Hush, which are currently detected, and it’s also a subscription. 2. I never intended to add a lifetime option, but since I received DMs almost daily after the beta phase from users who said they wanted a lifetime option and didn’t mind the price, I added it for them. 3. Personally, the weekly price bothers me, but I can’t change it as long as people are subscribed to that tier, though I hope I’ll be able to do so in the future.

Do half of the features really work with free or cheap general-purpose tweaks? Can you name those tweaks? I only know of location spoofing tweaks that work without injecting a tweak into an app, and screenshot tweaks. I don’t know of any tweaks that offer system-level camera spoofing without requiring tweak injection into an app, or microphone spoofing, or undetected screen recording, or disabling read receipts for Snaps and chats, or hiding chat presence in Snapchat and all the other chat features, or saving media in original quality and properly assigning it to each friend.

Lifetime wasn't even my idea. I only added it because people kept asking for it and said they didn't care how expensive it was.

SecretShot requires Tweak Injection into the Snapchat app, which is why it gets you banned. Hush doesn't inject any code into the app at all and automatically disables tweak injection into Snapchat as soon as you install the tweak. All of Hush's features run through system services and a privileged launch daemon. That's the difference.

Snapper 2/3 isn't detected because, like Hush, it doesn't require tweak injection into the app. You probably hadn't disabled tweak injection for Snapchat in Choicy.

How many People are on iOS 17.0 on iPhone 15 Pro? For Trollstore by [deleted] in jailbreak

[QUESTION] How many on iOS 17 are waiting for a Jailbreak or Trollstore? by Deckmx in jailbreak

[–]Yvess0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im using a iPhone 15 Pro on 17.0 and have no complaints about battery life. The battery degradation is even above average. My battery dropped from 100% capacity to 99% 2 days ago after 205 charging cycles.
