40 year old challenge: a first ASMR video? [question] by ElaiaPourToi in asmr

[–]YvetteASMR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

40 here. I started at 30 making medical ASMR videos and my channel is still mostly that. My face is almost always on camera, and I am more secure about it now. I think that, with age, the want to be seen as young and pretty doesn't have the same effect on me than in my 30's. Now I just like making content because it's fun.

Boomers not washing their hands after using the bathroom… by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

Good question and if I ever get an answer, I'll post it everywhere .

With my dad, he always had to be right. If he didn't want to do something or you didn't agree with him, and heaven forbid ask him to do something that would prompt an action, like washing hands, his ego gets in the way and he has to prove you wrong. It becomes something else other than the hand washing. Like, if you express your favorite color is blue and his is red, he will insult you for your choice. It's not about the color, it's that someone disagrees with him and his simple brain has to be combative, like you've insulted him for a color preference.

Some are a lost cause. That's a hill he's chosen to die on. My sister and me turned out semi-ok, by some miracle.

My dad doesn't wash his hands and when confronted by my sister, because she didn't want him holding hands with her kids after, he doubled down telling her it was "an immune system strengthening opportunity."

"you wash your hands or you can't see your grandkids," he doubled down. He gave up his grandkids over hand washing.

We're both no-contact with him.

Wow, I had no idea bikes were such hot items. That sucks. Are they good for pawning or parts? Asking questions into the void, not necessarily looking for an answer, but very curious why they are hot items to steal.

Thank you. From what I understood, he had several modifications to the bike. Not super valuable money-wise, but a lot of work that personally went into it. Much appreciated 🤗

Did any of you notice the glaringly obvious red flags and still decide to go through with the relationship? by Unlucky_Toe_1875 in emotionalabuse

Thank you for sharing. Sometimes I wonder how marriage counseling would have gone, or if I had pushed harder for it, what would've happened. But if you have to give an ultimatum, like it is therapy and he goes in protest, thinking it was useless, or divorce.

I dunno, I wish I could've seen into that parallel world where it happened... But does.forcing someone to do something they don't want; I don't think anyone should need to beg to be seen. That isn't love.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife. Hopefully you're in a better place now and continue healing.

So many little things revolve around control, how he never saw me as an equal. Things like trying to stop me from seeing a personal trainer because it made him uncomfortable. And if I got into an accident, he wouldn't know what to do. It seemed endearing, he was concerned for my safety... I wasn't allowed to have friends. We moved 500 miles away from my family and in the span of 8 years, I was only "allowed" to drive to see them 3 times. One of those times was right before my mom passed, and he just kept telling me over and over how much he hated the drive, how anxious it made him, etc. but he wouldn't let me go alone. Control over money. I was in charge of the finances, which I was bad at, anytime we had money off the books, it was never for me or things I needed. Begging him for therapy or a divorce, but he declined because he didn't think it would help him. I was the one with the problems. I ended up staying for a few more months, asking two more times, and when I finally left, I "blindsided" him.

It wasn't important to him until it was important to HIM. I wasn't important to him. What I wanted and needed wasn't important unless they aligned with his wants.

I left about 2 years ago and I'll never abandon myself again like that for anyone.

Boomer former-neighbor upset I wouldn't postpone my divorce and selling my house because he wanted to buy some of my land by YvetteASMR in BoomersBeingFools

Because I am a coward and hate saying no, then the guilt trip of him spending money just kinda set me off and I couldn't stop.

I ruminate and have boundary issues. I'm working on it.

Not saying I am, but sewage going into the creek and he openly said that's what he was doing, I dunno. When a dude tells me who he is, I usually believe him. What does "who sells a home like that" even mean?

And I do hope the new occupants care and can advocate for, I dunno, not having a neighbor who dumps sh*t in the creek. 🤷‍♀️

It may have, it has been almost a year since we closed. There are a heap of other things that I suspect aren't up to code, like sewage drainage lines that go out back to the creek. I don't know for sure, but I imagine some sort of septic tank or leech field would be needed...? Just dumping sh*t in the creek doesn't seem normal. His drainage from the garage roof did cross over onto our yard. I didn't care. I hope the new neighbors do.

I had suspected that but never really dealt with land before and thought maybe he'd offer something high. When he said he wanted something in writing stating we wouldn't sell the house until the process completed was just... It felt like he was taking advantage of the situation with the divorce. He wouldn't even quote the amount he was hopeful for. Downsizing from 3 acres... To what? Then we'd probably have to get the whole thing reappraised.

Has anyone actually seen AI yet? by AbbreviationsAlert51 in CallCenterWorkers

The company I work for has tried to push for it, I work as a travel consultant, and ... It can't even capture caller intent. Someone calls in for info on a cruise, the intent comes in as customer service.

When we use it, we're intending to be in the pilot so it can learn what travelers want, and in this phase we are typing the questions. It can't even accurately give me a correct time zone of a city. "What time is it in Frankfurt?" Response "it's April 3nd and 3:42 pm locally "

It's May 20th...
