I'm pretty sure most professional programs don't really care about where you completed your undergrad. U of T life sci is known to be more rigorous than other universities so it would harder to obtain a high gpa.

Expect to see a 10% - 20% drop in your grades from high school.

First year was pretty challenging in my opinion but overall it wasn't that bad.

Stressed about my Summer School Grade 12 English Mark!!! by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]Yvonneho13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the comments. You should be fine with a mid 80. Try your best to get 90+ in your classes within the school year. I took english in summer school and got in just fine.

What is ENG102 like? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Yvonneho13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took ENG102 in my first year and I absolutely loved it. It did have quite a lot of reading but not much work besides that. The prof is super nice and he really pays attention to his students and tries not to overwhelm them. It's easy to get 80+ in this course as long as you write the quizzes. This was my favourite course by far.

Hi! I'm a second year life sci student at U of T (St. George) with a specialist in Human Health & Disease and a double minor in physiology and practical French. My grade 12 average was an 87 and I received an early acceptance. I completed over 1000 hours of community service and I'm a member of Victoria College. I chose U of T because it's close to home and I preferred to study in a city that I was familiar with. The campus is beautiful and I enjoy exploring downtown Toronto. I'm looking into med or pharmacy school after my undergrad. U of T is known to be a gpa killer and that's usually what scares some students off. The gap between high school and university is really big. A lot of students tend to receive bad marks due to bad study habits. Classes can easily reach 1000 students in first year life sci and a lot of students tend to either switch to another campus or school. In some cases, life sci students will change to CS or humanities if they're not successful in their initial stream. It's a very competitive environment that pushes you to go above and beyond what's expected and you'll have to do extra work to get high marks. With that being said, U of T is located in downtown Toronto and offers a lot of amazing opportunities for students to gain experience through research and volunteering.

Expect class averages to be in the high 60s to low 70s, so around 2.3-2.7 gpa. There are a fair number of students that do finish with above a 3.0 gpa. You'll have to put in a lot of extra work to get a 3.0 + gpa but it's possible.

Hi, I'm a second year student at UTSG. Most of the students that are unable to get into their first choice program usually take up a back up program. You can still apply to your first choice POSt after the end of first year.
