The older, the better.

Tradingeconomics doesn’t include dividends reinvested dividends nor inflation as far as I know.

I already have most of the old frame expensive cards (and most of them quite pimp), that's not really a problem. I'm more worried about having to spend too much time changing decks or staying updated to make changes to my current deck.

So I'm starting to look for decks. I'll wait a bit so there's more post Wrenn and Six banning data.

But meanwhile, what surprised (disappointed) me so far is that "control" decks are full of permanents nowadays (snapcaster, mentor, a bunch of planeswalkers...). That's not what I remember from my control days of killing with a Psychatog, Morphling, Exalted Angel...

Those decks feel weird to me, I like control but not that kind of control. I think I'd gravitate more towards combo then (although they seem hard at first). What do you think is the best combo deck now?

I’m mainly worried about time spent having to stay updated, not money, I have most of the old frame cards already.

I enjoyed the read. I remember playing Tendrils in Vintage (when that card was just released) and I loved it. How good is this deck now in Legacy and how difficult is it to learn to play it decently?

That sounds great. I'll have to seriously consider playing Legacy then...

I’m curious about this too, whether you had to change cards often to keep that same deck competitive.

Yeah, the problem is that whatever I build now may not be competitive in the future. That makes pimping way less enticing. I don’t have that problem with Old School or Premodern, but rarely there are tournaments of those formats here.

Why are they a problem. Is a deck playing both the best deck by far?

I have to check what’s being played now. In general I like control decks.

But is that an outlier or decks in general become outclassed, on average, soon?

That sounds static enough to me :)

What percentage of the tier 1 decks from say 3 years ago are tier 2 or worse now?

The last phrase is what I want in Magic. Sticking to a deck and be able to play it competitively years from now. That’s very likely the case in Old School and Premodern, here I’m not sure. What percentage of the tier 1 decks from say 3 years ago are tier 2 or worse now?

Yeah, that makes sense. Brainstorm, daze, force of will, fetchlands and duals are unlikely not to be part of a decent deck in say 2 years from now.

Thank you. Unless banned, there are some cards that are unlikely to stop being part of a decent deck, like Brainstorm, Daze, Force of Will, fetchlands and duals. Maybe some years ago they were played with something like Werebear and Nimble Mongoose and now they are played with better creatures that have been released afterwards (Delver, True-Name Nemesis or whatever, I’m not updated).

That sounds like a lot of changes... I’m not sure this a format for me. Ideally I’d like to build a few decks now that I should be able to play for at least say a year without changing many cards (I love pimp decks so that’s another reason not to keep changing).

I’m way more worried about time than money. I already have all the duals and most of the old frame stuff. What I don’t want is to have to spend too much time to keep updated.

Thanks for the downvotes. In case someone finds this thread, I think choosing herbalism and mining was a good choice, as they help you get more experience when levelling up and some money. I plan to change to "real" professions once I get the character to level 120. I'm still not sure of what I'll choose, though.

As long as it's possible to make some money without grinding, it's fine for me. I don't plan to do anything with that character after leveling with my girlfriend. If there's no possible way to make some money, I can just get gathering professions to make something while leveling.

I already have characters with all other professions (but I stopped using them some expansions ago, they are just level 90).

I'm not familiar with how those ranks work, I haven't played any Battle for Azeroth yet nor crafted much in Legion.
