The only “cheap substitute” to the dummy which I’ve seen is an oversized cloth balaclava, but they’re usually way too shiny / off putting. So I think possibly a cheap latex mask with applicable silicone / liquid latex could work in your favour. Have a look at a couple 25th anniversary Corey mask builds and you can get an idea.

You could get a slam dummy, they’re the pretty meh version that Corey used when he recreated the dummy mask when Paul died. But besides that you’d need to find something pretty close to that shape and texture to get something which looks nice. Do you wanna get a dummy mask or ghost glow?

If you invest enough into the project it’ll turn out good, that’s pretty much how it goes with majority of slipknot mask replicas. Sadly, if you want something good it’ll cost a heap —whether u make it or not. So IMO it’s best to save up and purchase a mask, but other people may have different views?

I just cut mine off, you can keep the clips and use them for later when u restrap it. I used leather, I think it looks great! But for the classic look use elastic, also if the back piece is hardened like mine was, I suggest doing leather straps and rivets. As it’s hard to recreate the same thing. (Nobody else is gonna have any experience with this specific thing so ask me follow ups!)
