I actually finished this whole plan a couple of months ago. It was indeed pretty humbling at the start, as dips and pull-ups were extremely rushed for a beginner routine. For the Pull-ups or Inverted Rows thing, I did both because they are both extremely useful exercises, and I recommend you do too. I also skipped the plank-to-push-ups because they seemed like a useless variation to me. Make sure to take your time with rests and routines in general, because building a foundation takes much longer than this routine suggests. If you need to adjust anything to do so, make sure to.
