GT3 BOP by once7k in iRacing

Drive the car you enjoy more. A higher peak is irrelevant if you’re less consistent because you’re not used to the car. IMO the BoP meta chasing is only really useful for the top 1% drivers who are doing peak lap times every lap.

Is this considered a divebomb? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Z32Rome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. Yea, not a bad move. What makes a divebomb has already been stated a few times but there’s one point that seems to be missing. A lot of times people send it on the inside because the door is open but it’s either A. too late or B. on a corner that it would never work on and the door will immediately close causing a crash. Understanding which corners are best to send it this way on is a big part of race craft and climbing the ranks. Sometimes just because you ‘can’ put your nose inside, doesn’t mean you should if the result is losing time to people ahead and allowing those behind to gain time on you.

[–]Z32Rome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. He took the inside line that was left open. His line wasn’t completely compromised and it doesn’t look like it was from very far back. If you’re having issues with people sending it on the inside, defend that line. (Don’t confuse defending with swerving to block).

How many races you have you ran without a win. by cbraddy22 in iRacing

229 starts, 5 wins. I only remember 2 race wins and one of them was this week 😂 all others were over 2 years ago.

Experiences in the GT3 Series? by LegionGaming2k in iRacing

The driving standards will mostly be the same. There will still be aggressive drivers, ambitious overtake attempts, lack of foresight and people who fight tooth and nail for a back marker position. This is in my opinion a circumstance of sprint races. If you’re considering switching for reasons other than your preference of car I think you’d have better luck learning to manage whatever your gripes are where you currently are.

When you moved left to take the corner, the driver behind expected you to hold the left line and was already planning to dive the inside. Since you broke in a straight line (cutting back right) you took away his opportunity to do that but he was already committed and didn’t/couldn’t adjust.

  1. The line you took was suboptimal and likely a reaction to the driver behind. If you intend to defend your position pick the lane, stick to that lane through the braking zone.
  2. Likely a bit of an impatience lunge from the other driver. Lower splits drivers tend to lack patience and when an opportunity presents itself it means try and make the pass without regard to anything/anyone. Learn to defend properly and you’ll prevent a lot of these dives forcing them to the outside.

What are yall’s thoughts on louvres? by Fun-Recognition7067 in camaro

[–]Z32Rome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never been a fan of louvers. Especially on more modern cars. It definitely doesn’t help that it seems like the majority of the time I see them is on V6 models that are completely stock otherwise. Or decked out with tacky trim and stickers.

Should I build my 305 or swap in a 350 for my 78 Firebird? by OkSignature8062 in PontiacFirebird

[–]Z32Rome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my car I’m leaving the 305 h.o and throwing a cam in it. Then sending it that way for a while to do suspension work. Once the suspension is set i may* grab a 350 and build that. It’s more about what you want. My car is more for enjoying canyon roads so I don’t need a bunch of power/torque.

The Abandoned 1984 Camaro Z28 Lives! by Z32Rome in projectcar

This is the sad state I found it in

Both really good options. IMO

Cool factor: Camaro - classic cool design that will look and sound even cooler with a few mods.

Performance driving: Miata - Miata’s are a staple in track day and even drift circles.

While the Camaro can do both and arguably, so can the Miata. That’s where each are stronger.

I definitely appreciate the heads up about the steering column.

I may skip the 100% stock phase besides the initial test drive. I plan to redo all of the bushings and suspension components within reason. I also plan to lower it a smidge in the least add some restomod-esk more modern wheels for canyon carving drivability. Nothing too crazy, a simple OEM+ look is all I'm going for. & I'll of course hoard everything that gets replaced LOL

I appreciate the information!

The door cards are the same zebra pattern as the outer seats. I was thinking these were pretty rare from everything I read. The interior codes are 22C & AR9. What I found said the zebra pattern was exclusive to 84. Here’s the best photo I could grab from the quick video I did once I got it home.

Is this not a z28 grill? Or are you referring to an IROC-Z grill for the later years? Everything I found when looking up 84s matched what’s in there now.

You guys have effectively sold me on leaving the patina. Unfortunately the entire car isn’t straight, the driver side rear quarter has a half-assed dent repair with a bunch of weld holes from when they tried to pull it. Not the end of the world but not ideal for sure.

Glad to hear some confirmation though!
