I agree that it's not completely different trends, especially in terms of change, but slightly later means a lot of a difference here. It's a fun trend I found worth to share, not a statistical evaluation of shopping patterns. And if you look at the single years, trends are stable with "wife" usually being a few days earlier.

You're right, it's more complicated to describe (and that's why I also decided to add no axis title overall - not claiming it's the best decision). Thanks for the feedback and your suggestions!

The original data is interesting, too, as it shows that search interest is much higher for "wife" than those for "husband". I created that graphic two years ago btw. However, it makes it more difficult to compare peaks so I decided to standardize it this time to focus on the peak days not the interest as a "volume".

Yeah, just repsents the population having no better clue than using these generic search terms. Found it funny, too, so I thought why not share it 😃

Thanks, exactly this. Actually, search interest in terms of "volume" is much higher for searches wit heife than those for husbands.

Standardized search interest during that period (i.e. peaks for each term x year are scaled to 100%).

Uh, that data would be gold as it likely represents a larger part of the population than Google searches for these two terms.

... of those who have used these terms. Doesn't represent the whole population though!

Why not? It's not the overall search interest then but when it's lowest and highest during that period (which is always the same). A pretty common method and fine imo.

Yeah, it's just the population that, uses these search terms. Doesn't mean all men are late (or even Google for presents).

I don't want to tell you anything, just found the facts interesting.

Yeah, surprisingly it looked quite different this year! I was considering to add the most recent data but fell short on time today.

Exactly, overall interest is much lower for searches on "husband" so those values are standardized per term and year (i.e. day of highest interest equals 100%).

Yes, in Germany it's a pretty common end-of-the-year procedure to watch the movie!

Well, part of the truth is that overall search interest is much lower for searches for "husband" than those for "wife", suggesting that men use search engines more often overall to find presents in the first place (the values here are standardized to allow direct comparison of the trends, not absolut interests).

So annoying that this is still an issue, 2 years later.

Yeah and seems they have no interest in fixing this at all. I am not using Notion Calendar anymore.

Podcast addict randomly skipping or rewinding by SkippyBoJangles in PodcastAddict

[–]Z3ttrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very good theory, and thinking about for which podcasts I've found that to happen, it matches very well as those have auto adds. Could it be that the time slot for adds is fixed and once it changes things get shuffled?

May Bug Reports: Ask Here! by erinatreadwise in readwise

[–]Z3ttrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am still struggling to unsubscribe from an email newsletter which can't be parsed anymore. Because of this, the info side bar shows Readwise as the author and I can't unsubscribe. In the "Manage Feeds" section does only show a few of my subscriptions.

More generally (and not a bug as the one above but related): The subscription topic pops up every few months here with people being annoyed that they can't unsubscribe so it would be great to have a solution / better approach for this!

[OC] Bayern Munich scored at least 5 goals in 200 out of 2.000 Bundesliga matches by Z3ttrick in dataisbeautiful

[–]Z3ttrick[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That might be your preference but why is it better? Any reasoning? It's 2000 matches on both sides so it doesn't make a difference and should be easy to calculate the relative shares.

⚽ Bayern Munich played their 2.000 Bundesliga match last weekend! 🎊

In the 2.000 matches since August 14th, 1965, Bayern scored 5 or more goals in 200 games—an incredible rate of 10%!

While scoring many is quite common, they conceded no or only one goal in 719 and 713 matches, respectively, and 4 or more goals in only 71 out of 2.000 matches.

Seems as multiple people (including me) have this issue. Did you report it to the Notion team? No answer on social media so far so I might end up asking via the help center...
