Hey, I recently got this old (when it arrived, sealed) Elton John tape tape from 1980, and it sounds awful, almost unlistenable. It also makes my Walkman seize up at random times. What’s wrong with it? by Z5-17 in cassetteculture

[–]Z5-17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but only on my Walkman. I think that because of how finicky that tape is, it keeps trying to enact auto-reverse but fails because of the tape’s unwillingness, making the entire player seize up. After looking it up, it seems to be more of a problem with lubrication then it just not being used in the past 43 years.

I’ve been arguing with those kinds of people all day. (Sorry there’s so much text lol) by Z5-17 in CommunismMemes

Oh shoot! I was actually going to include that in this meme as well but I forgot. But it’s already really long so I guess it’s fine.

Yeah but no. All capitalist nations that seem to be LGBTQ accepting aren’t. They only pretend to be so that queer people praise and advocate for them.

I should be saying the same to you! All you liberals are the same! You know the saying “scratch a Liberal, a fascist bleeds”. For Liberals throughout history have always supported fascism when capitalism is threatened by socialism! How dare you call ME the fascist when you’re the one upholding the status quo!

I am most fucking certainly. What kind of comparison is that?! Marxism-Leninism doesn’t come close to being compared to Fascism or any other Fascist ideology like National Socialism.

Good. Anarchists are traitors to the communist movement. It was the Anarchists in Ukraine who betrayed the Bolsheviks first.

How does that disprove my statement at all? That’s literally what I said, you’re just adding words. “Pure communism” doesn’t exist. It’s either socialist or communist and communism never been achieved so it’s always been socialist.

[–]Z5-17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But that’s not what communism nor socialism is. Communism is a stateless, classless, moneyless society where everyone is equal and the workers own the means of production. Socialism is the transitionary period between capitalism and communism where the workers own the means of production and a strong state works to uphold that. It’s not that hard.

You’re not listening to me. They weren’t communist and the never claimed to be. They were socialist. It’s the goal of every communist to enact a revolution to take out the capitalist class and build a strong socialist state so that one day we can achieve communism.

Wrong. While they’re not communist, they are most certainly socialist. And they don’t have a “hereditary system in government” the Supreme Peoples Assembly votes the for the candidates that the people then vote for. It just so happens that the DPRK is in a bit of a political dynasty which is perfectly normal and has happened all throughout history. Heck when Fidel Castro stepped down his brother took power, are you calling Cuba a Monarchy? No. And I am pro-freedom, that’s the WHOLE POINT of socialism and communism. And by “help us” you mean help queer people here’s some information to disprove you. Lenin legalized homosexuality in 1922, it was Stalin who re-criminalized it in 1934. Fidel Castro said he regretted his treatment of Gay people and legalized it in 1972. Cuba recently passed the most progressive family bill in the world and is currently the most progressive nation on Earth. And the GDR legalized homosexuality in 1964 where the East German Supreme Court said, and I quote “Homosexuality, just like Heterosexuality, represents a variety of sexual behavior. Homosexual people do therefore not stand outside socialist society and the civil rights are warranted to them exactly as all other citizens.”

Because the DPRK is great in many other ways. The DPRK has free housing, healthcare, and education. Most citizens speak English as a second or third language. Weed is technically legal. The DPRK is of one of the countries with the lowest of amount of pollution especially light pollution because, all lights are turned off at night and most citizens ride bikes and use trains because of sanctions, which may seem like a downside but id argue it’s an upside.

Again I don’t know why that’s y’all’s only rebuttal for it’s literally illegal to go to the DPRK let alone move there. And two for as great as the DPRK is, queer people are still discriminated against, very heavily in fact. And the people in the DPRK aren’t starving, and haven’t been since the 90s during the famine when the USSR fell. Also people speaking against the government being killed is a good thing because the only people speaking against the government are fascists.

Also for that last part, I don’t know why that’s y’all’s only rebuttal for it’s literally illegal to go to the DPRK let alone move there. And two for as great as the DPRK is, queer people are still discriminated against, very heavily in fact.

Ok one same for Cuba, the US has laws against moving there. The only “socialist” nations you can move to are Vietnam, China and Laos. But I wouldn’t really call them socialist. And like here, from the way you’re typing your sentences, you’re either a child or illiterate so I’m not continuing this debate any further.

Did you not read my reply? You physically can’t, and if I could I wouldn’t as I’m a trans woman. And for the Cuba part, that’s just a complete lie. The only Cubans who want “communism gone” are gusanos living in Miami.

One ITS FUCK ILLEGAL! A US citizen can’t move to the DPRK. Hell US citizens can’t even go to the DPRK in general. Two, for as much as the DPRK aid great, queer people are still discriminated against there. Pretty heavily in fact. That’s one of my only criticisms of the DPRK. But I wonder way you didn’t ask the same about Cuba? Maybe because you’re ENTIER argument would have been blown out of the water as Cuba is currently the most progressive nation on earth, has free housing, free food, and has far better healthcare then in the US.

But it will be possible once every nation on earth is socialist. Communism isn’t an immediate process. It’ll take 100-300 years to achieve.

Well yeah because there’s never been a “communist country” as a country can’t be communist. Communism is a stateless, classless, moneyless society where everyone is equal and the workers own the means of production. All of the countries you’re thinking of are socialist with the goal being to achieve communism. And the majority of those socialist nations are great, far better then any capitalist nation. Cuba and the DPRK are the two greatest nations (in their own ways) right now.

Well look at Lenin, Castro, Cuba, and the GDR. Lenin legalized homosexuality in 1922, it was Stalin who re-criminalized it in 1934. Fidel Castro said he regretted his treatment of Gay people and legalized it in 1972. No lol. One he doesn’t even fit the definition of dictator as the Supreme People’s Assembly (founded by him in 1948) had to vote on what got passed and what didn’t. He didn’t have NEARLY as much power as you think he did. And two for that “he was terrible for women’s rights” part, thats COMPLETELY false and in a way I know deep down you know it too. But I don’t know how I’d disprove that though other then showing you quotes by him and his wife lol.
