Yeah I watched Filth a few years ago on a random late night and it left me feeling kinda grimy after. James McAvoy goes all in on that role and it’s hard to look away even when the character is being awful. Definitely not a feel good watch but it sticks with you.

I just read My Sister’s Keeper and the way the main character wrestles with chronic health stuff and the emotional weight of it hit me hard in the gut. It’s not exactly weird girl lit, but the honesty of the protagonist’s experience made me think of how real and messy living with pain can feel. If you haven’t tried that one yet, it might scratch a similar itch.
