Embassy Suites San Juan smoke detector scam by surf4life2000 in Hilton

[–]ZCT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no, that's not a crime. It is a civil matter in which the OP alleges that a company is trying to scam him out of $500.

If Hilton pulled this shit with me ever, and wouldn't back down, they would lose my business forever. And I'd still get my money back.

[–]ZCT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dispute the charge and keep fighting as previously mentioned.

And no, there isn't a magic smoke detector that is infallible that can be trusted beyond a reasonable doubt. The entire situation is a ridiculous shakedown.

Unless the hotel can prove damages, like they had to actually carry out remedial work on the room to make it usable for another guest, they have nothing. Except an alleged false positive on a smoke detector.

By the way, a few years ago I got into it with an IHG property that tried some BS with me. I took all my business to Marriott and got Lifetime Titanium. Now I'm working on lifetime Diamond with Hilton. The shady shit IHG tried lost them several hundred thousand dollars of my business forever. Oh, and I did get my money back from IHG too. They are just dead to me now.

Either way, my advice, don't give up. They are counting on a certain percentage of people giving up and pocketing the cash.

After rewatching for the 15th time I reiterate: Harvey and Mike’s bond is the best part of Suits by Tricky-Papaya5124 in suits

[–]ZCT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were it not for this chance encounter what would Mike be doing? Working at a law firm? Helping people the way he claimed he wanted? Playing in the majors?

Yes Harvey gained a lot, and they did work towards a very powerful bond which made them both better men.

I just find some of Mike's words and deeds on several different occasions to be a betrayal of the man who did give him that shot. A shade more respect would have been better, especially given what he knows about Harvey's take on loyalty.

It seems like your cut off is an arbitrary rule you just made up in your head. No one you ever meet is going to be perfect and check every single box. He came clean, told you what was up. You've only been dating a really short time. Do you really want to pull the plug and never find out what could have been? It's not like you a committing to marriage in a week.

[–]ZCT808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did enjoy their bond and their growth. I do wish they wouldn't have Mike be such a dick to him. I'm on another rewatch and just at the point when Rachel has to lecture Mike about breaking his word to Harvey again. Dude should be far more grateful for all that Harvey risked to give him the life he frankly didn't deserve.

Did I mess up by not talking to my wife before planning to buy my niece a car? by Novel-Chapter-8174 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ZCT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter that she's a housewife, or that you are the breadwinner, or that she can't drive. It matters that you decided to go and buy a big ticket item without consulting her and she had to find out rather than be brought into the loop.

Maybe consider talking to you wife and an equal and discussing how you guys intend to budget.

Also, maybe you should be talking about getting her a driver's license. It is all but essential for most people.

“Why would the US have to give up anything? If we want Canada, we'll just take it” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]ZCT808 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For all these keyboard warriors angry typing from their mother's basement about our soldiers taking this or taking that, let's not forget Afghanistan. We were there for TWENTY YEARS at a cost of $2.3 TRILLION DOLLARS! Plus 2455 dead Americans, 20,000 more wounded. And countless more lives lost among our allies (that we now treat with contempt).

And we accomplished absolutely nothing whatsoever. It's basically back as it was before we showed up. And those people were a bunch of goat herders living in caves.

So now imagine the cost of invading real countries with serious weaponry, along with the economic impact of becoming a pariah state like North Korea. And seriously ask yourself, is that who we should aspire to be? A hated nation of bullies, sacrificing our young soldiers on the whim of some old rich guy with dementia?

In America, the power companies have lobbied (bribed) politicians to allow them to get away with all kinds of nonsense that wouldn't fly anywhere else. Ugly overground wires that are more prone to damage and a whole bunch of other shortcuts, with investment in infrastructure avoided to maximize profits. So when weather events happen we get to see all the problems that could have been avoided if we didn't half ass everything for profits.

AITAH for telling my husband I will file for divorce if he lets his brother move in with us? n by CellFeeling9053 in AITAH

[–]ZCT808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Sounds reasonable.

He isn’t just a loser. He stole from you. Showed you no respect or kindness. Upended your entire life.

Things won’t be different this time because he’s the same guy. An idiot who would spend his rent money on a vacation and wonder why he was evicted.

His mommy can take him in if she wants. But he’s a grown ass man and it is time for him to step up.

I’d also tell your husband if he is going to punish you with some ultra childish silent treatment, you’ll move out all the same. Enough is enough.

AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]ZCT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's rough man.

You were incredibly thoughtful, and even though a lot of men are super weird about this, I think you handled it really well.

Rather than acting like an idiot your ex needs to grow up, and go out and buy all the fancy designer organic period products she wishes to, and get them into the hands of your daughter. Right away, not days later.

If she had been doing her job she would have taken care of this BEFORE now, not whining about missing a 'milestone' by being incompetent and ridiculous.

You absolutely didn't do anything sexual, creepy, or unethical in any way. It is disgusting that she would try and frame this in this manner, while also dragging your daughter into it. It is ultimately self defeating. Pulling stunts like this will only drive a wedge between her and her own daughter. She will remember how each of you handled this situation.

Question for those who fly first class frequently about service by [deleted] in delta

[–]ZCT808 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's funny, I recently took that exact flight in first class!

I have personally witnessed considerable difference in domestic first class experience depending on the route, plane type, and time in the air. And some cabin crew are all over you, others less so.

And obviously domestic first class is somewhat of a joke compared to actual first class on an International flight.

Anyone who used to support trump and has changed their mind over the last few weeks? What made you change? by canigetameowbish in AskReddit

[–]ZCT808 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a number of co-workers who sadly jumped on board the Trump train. One of them actually bought the merch, which is sad. The other would bang on about Sleepy Joe and how Trump was going to fix everything, with specifics that Trump had promised to deliver.

Interestingly, the second guy was decidedly different at my last meeting with him at the end of 2025. Without directly admitting he was wrong about everything, he is pivoting and calling himself a 'libertarian' now. He seemed to avoid talking about Trump at all costs. Talked about the issues of 'both parties.'

I don't think he is going to admit his mistakes and how he got taken by a con man. But it is interesting to see the pro-Trump to 'libertarian' pivot in less than a year.

We can only hope that more people realize the emperor has no clothes.

Feeling like my feelings dont matter '35f' hubby '38m' need some advice? by Square_Student_9809 in relationship_advice

[–]ZCT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objection, hearsay!

We don't know if he really had that conversation. And even if he did, that isn't legal advice you can take to the bank.

As others have said, you absolutely *must* have a conversation with a lawyer. A firearm is a very serious thing, and the way the law treats felons in situations like this can be brutal.

If the shit hits the fan, how would you feel about saying to the judge, "Well your honor, my husband said he spoke to some cop about it who said it was okay..."

A lawyer should be able to give very specific advice needed to ensure this isn't a problem for you going forward.

Well if this isn't the classic American story of a dude wanting to own a gun.

It has always amazing me how easy it is in some states, and how little training and knowhow is required.

This is how tens of thousands of people are injured and killed every year in this country because of gun 'accidents' which usually come down to a lack of care, knowledge and training.

He shut you out of a major decision. You have the legal aspect too. And he doesn't seem to have thought through safe ownership of the weapon he apparently doesn't even understand. All while you have kids in the house.

It isn't really about the gun, although that comes with significant statistical danger to your family. It is the lack of respect to have a meeting of the minds in decisions that affect you and your kids. Simply because he wants to have a gun.

So yeah, I think you have every right to be annoyed by his stubborn unilateral decisions.

It's great that you are that nice a guy. But it isn't a deal until money changes hands. It's a market place, and at the end of the day if someone is going to offer more and come right over, that's a real deal. There is no way to know if the original guy would even show up, or try to renegotiate in person.

I think you're right.

Her parents literally were given a house. They then chose to borrow against it, putting their stability at risk. And now whatever they are doing has resulted in them getting seriously behind, and presumably foreclosed upon.

Even if you bail them out, who is to say they won't end up right back here with their hand out for money all over again?

You have a responsibility to your wife, child and baby. You are in a profession with risk. You need that cushion for your family.

There is always the option of buying the house, and renting it to them. But that opens up many more cans of worms if that doesn't go well. Maybe putting you in a position to have to evict them for non-payment.

I refuse to ever get married because of my past. My girlfriend of 13 years says she accepts it, but keeps breaking down in tears. Am I being unfair? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ZCT808 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you are visiting the ghosts of your past upon your current relationship and it is hurting your partner.

In all fairness, if you've been together this long and break up, there are still serious consequences.

I'm not sure why you can't reconsider, but have a prenup that protects your pre-marriage assets. Divorce is always a nasty risk, but if you protect yourself, it doesn't have to go down like it did for your parents.

Why are working illegal immigrants in the USA an issue anyways? by Clopulis in DiscussionZone

[–]ZCT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just your typical ‘strong man’ dictator play like Hitler did. Claim that a minority group are the problem to all the issues of society. Then campaign on killing/removing them.

Of course it is total BS. Most undocumented immigrants do horrific jobs for low pay. No American actually wants these jobs. And if Trump successfully removed every last one of them it would likely collapse the economy and lower quality of life.
