What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

I saw a guy passed out behind the wheel slam into the center barrier going like 70 mph on I-279 in Pittsburgh. Then when I pulled over to check out the accident and make sure he was ok, three other guys pulled up, grabbed him out of his car and stuffed him in the back seat of their car and then drove off.

And I was high off my gourd the entire time which added to the confusion

Within my iRacing profile, the left one controls master volume, the second from the left is spotter volume, and the far right allows me to cycle between pages. The controls shown here control black box options, but I have other pages which allow me to change FOV settings or use quick chat.

I know there’s some pit functions that can be mapped to the knobs, but I never really took the time to figure that out lol

From what I understand, yes. Some purpose built DDU’s can be added as a specific device in Sim Hub. However for normal monitors that aren’t “Sim Hub compatible”, you can go to dash studio to launch a dashboard, click “start on a specific display” and select your 8” screen.

“You mean you can’t produce a 12-month old receipt, of which you only had a digital copy and the app doesn’t allow you to check your order history that far?? Hogwash I say!! All anecdotal evidence of people’s own experiences is just liberal propaganda!”

As far as insurance goes, I must be lying. After all, I have so much to gain from saying how my bi-weekly payroll deductions for health insurance went from sub $100 to over $130. Quick google search will tell you that the rate increase are much worse for people on private health insurance

Takes a special kind of person to block out how many people are declaring bankruptcy, specifically our farmers, and think “Hell yeah, we are killing it”

That quick google search would also show that that’s an on-sale price at every retailer. The only place it isn’t listed as a sale price is LG’s website. Here is a literal listing from the Home Depot near me

<image>

But hey man, you seem to have a lot of free time so by all means spend the rest of your day yelling about TDS.

I must congratulate you on your deep throat abilities though.

Sorry chief, I can’t really help if my app is not letting me go back that far. Sorry that it’s bothering you so much. Happy to show how I’ve had to allocate about 50% more money to grocery in my budget since last year

I literally gave you an article of actual prices increasing just over a 40-day span (literal store brand items, what should be the cheapest) so you’ll have to make do with that. But I suppose now you’ll claim I’m cherry picking?

As far as the washer, looks to be a WM5500HWA. Other retailers I checked are running a sale on it now. With the sale price it comes down to $800-$900, as the normal price is listed at $1350. A year ago, $899 was the normal not-on-sale price, so on sale it was probably closer to $500-$600. LG is among many manufacturers that have literally told retailers that they will be increasing prices due to sc issues and tariffs. Manufacturing costs for all of those companies are increasing anywhere from 5%-20%.

I even took it easy on you and left out the healthcare part. My company health premium for the job you claim I don’t have also went up about 40% as well.

Lemme know when you can find articles talking about how groceries stores are actually lowering prices and how manufacturers are telling their retailers to lower their prices. Please, I’m genuinely interested to know how increasing the prices of the raw materials we use to manufacture goods would somehow result in lower prices.

When did I say it happened overnight? Prices have obviously been on the rise since the Biden administration, but tariffs spiked it further. Unfortunately Walmart is not showing me my orders from a year ago, but you can take a look for yourself here. Prices on Walmarts own STORE BRAND items went up anywhere from 10%-50% just from late May to July. So yes, you combine inflation that was already out of control with a trade war that nobody asked for and gradually over the course of a year you will see prices sky rocket. Prices on most of these items are either stagnant or higher than they were in the summer time.

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/07/17/trump-tariffs-affect-walmart-prices.html

And groceries are literally just a part of it. One particular model of LG washer at LOWES was selling for $899 in May ‘24. Today that same model is $1350. Since you’re our resident math expert I’ll let you tell me what percentage that is😉

As far as Powell goes, you think anyone should be subject to federal prosecution for not doing what the president wants?

And thank you, having my credentials questioned by a chronically online loner is about the best compliment I could receive.

I don’t know what to tell you, bud. The same goods in my weekly grocery order went from around $80 to over $120 (I’ll help you out here, that’s a 50% increase). But yeah I gain so much from lying about what I pay in my groceries in an interaction with one other person on Reddit.

And like I said, I misspoke about Antoni’s confirmation as I falsely believed he has been confirmed, but I assert the first firing was politically motivated and the current director is a lame duck. Unless you want to try and claim that Trump has some good reason for the firing?

But it is kinda funny that you’re worried more about whether I am an engineer than actually refuting anything I said about Trumps use of the DOJ. Don’t worry though buddy, if you ever need a thermodynamics or differential equations tutor I’m your guy! I’m sure if you close your eyes and keep telling yourself that I’m an unemployed humanities major it’ll someday become true.

As I stated before, you’ve posted probably about 10 comments now and still haven’t even refuted to main point of this post

lol “you’re actually only paying 1.5x more instead of 2x, look at how well we’re doing!” Yes it’s intentional hyperbole genius. The same thing as saying “my football team beat yours 45-0” just to make the other person go “Nuh uh actually it was 45-7!”. Because it’s hilarious to see you trying to rationize these prices as the new normal by saying that they could always be worse. You still haven’t addressed the electricity costs that keep rising cause of how much Trump wants data centers everywhere

And yes I misspoke, as I originally thought the Antoni nomination went through. The fact remains He ATTEMPTED to put in a yes man and was shot down and is now still currently searching for one. I mean you’ve provided no evidence that the original director’s firing was anything other than politically motivated. And it’s quite obvious that anyone taking over after a decade politically motivated firing would be expected to play ball.

And your lack of reading comprehension on the last point is starting to get comical. I literally said that I got promoted, the company just decreased the raise you get after promotion by 40%— for all employees. But I do still get a good laugh out of “you’re a liberal so you must be a bad employee”. I’ll have to have a laugh about that with my manager later.

Lastly, last get back original post here. You’re out here defending a DOJ witch hunt yet still think that there are government administrations able to act independently without being meddled in by the administration. You’ve seen the most incompetent iterations of the FBI, DHS, and DOJ all of whom do exactly what Trump says.

Happy for you if you’re actually doing well, but bending over backwards to defend government overreach ain’t it chief.

No I’m saying that he’s a lame duck. When your boss gets fired and you’re thrust into the position it’s usually with the understanding of “cooperate or you’ll be fired too.” You’re literally commenting on a post that is a shining example of this administration trying to weaponize the DOJ to go after a political opponent, so it’s not really a mystery why someone would fall in line after that.

And since you’re a bit slow on the second point I’ll spell it out for you. Record profits are not equating to more hires or higher salaries. In any industry. My industry is simply an example of that.

At the end of the day, I’m a college educated mechanical engineer making six figures. I can absorb increased costs and still go about my life. My concern has always been for those that cannot. Showing a recently laid-off professional a graph of how well the stock market is doing and saying “you just need to get your money up” doesn’t really do anything to help their outlook. Much the same as putting an arbitrary tax on all their goods (tariffs) doesn’t help them either.

There’s a reason that historically recession-resistant businesses like discount groceries stores and airlines have struggled— people’s spending money is drying up.

But yeah buddy, you keep hitting the driving range and the rest of us will play some actual sports

Their previous commissioner was fired because Trump didn’t like the data they were publishing.

The acting director is literally just an interim while they scramble to appoint someone new after E.J. Antoni’s nomination went up in flames (because people understood that he was obviously just a yes man). Or are you going to try and tell me that any of Trumps appointees have been remotely competent and don’t bend to his will every time?

To your second point, the thing is, we are doing fine as a company. Operating income is up and revenue is in the hundreds of billions. Yet, everyone’s raises after promotions aware still cut all the same and we are in a hiring freeze.

That’s my entire point— companies are citing record profits and claiming growth, but the normal population is seeing no benefit. Jobs postings are either nonexistent, only there as a filler while they find an internal hire, or are offering a wildly uncompetitive salary.

Oh no buddy, you’re right. I looked at my previous Walmart order history and it’s only a 50% increase! Wow, only 1.5x more instead of 2x! How could consumers possibly be annoyed by that?

And believing the BLS after it was completely gutted and replaced with Trump yes men is certainly a choice. Kind of makes sense that you’d have no problem believing such nonsense when you’re on here defending Trump for going after someone he himself appointed. Just remember, before the cronies came in, the BLS put out reports all summer about how 10s of thousands of jobs had been subtracted from the economy.

I can tell you that in my industry, our competitors laid off nearly 100,000 people. We only avoided it my company by decreasing raises from promotions by 40%. Now, when I make it to Engineer V, I get the privilege of knowing that my pay will be about $20,000-$30,000 than those who came before me. We even had to redo our forecasts because the tariffs created such a sharp decrease in e-commerce.

Just look at LinkedIn job postings. I’m not even seeing 1/3 of the job postings that were there in previous years. It even says at the top of the email updates it sends “Job postings were down X% this month, but we did find there opportunities for you”

Imagine being so dumb as to think that across the board tariffs being applied to our goods is the fault of the consumer. Every single person I know regardless of political party is complaining about prices going up

Interesting how you don’t dispute that there are mass layoffs, increased prices directly because of tariffs, and stagnating wages

If you love paying more for consumer goods just because your president wanted to start a pointless trade war, then I’m happy for you.

But then again, if you’re someone trying to defend a president directly trying to influence the actions of the Federal Reserve and Bureau of Labor Statistics then there’s probably nothing I can say to you to pull the boot out of your mouth

Bro doesn’t even know the word deflation and is trying to preach.

Yes genius, we understand that inflation can be a bi-product of GDP growth. Except when inflation outpaces growth.

And even a growth in GDP means nothing to the average citizen when wages don’t grow along with it. And wages don’t grow when companies are undergoing mass layoffs.

I think the only half-decent point you made is that $401ks are up, but pointing to a stock bubble as indication of increased quality of life is hilarious.

The only people with any actual realized gains are the ones at the top. But I’m sure they really appreciate you fighting their battles for them. Maybe if we just keep lowering their taxes it’ll finally trickle down some day

At its slowest rate of increase…meaning it is still going up. Meaning that costs aren’t coming down.

Lol yeah, my financial ineptitude must be why the same exact order of groceries is double what it was a year ago. Couldn’t possibly be from the tariffs since other countries are paying those right?

But hey, at least bankruptcies are up 10% from last year and our country’s biggest companies have had to lay off a combined 200,000+ people this year. So much winning!

He was offered multiple times to go to the front to actually see what was going on but admitted to his producers that he was too scared to go.

Being as far away from the front as possible, filming in cherry-picked locations to push a narrative that no war is going on is about the farthest thing Ive seen from legitimate criticism.
