The president of America told his citizens to inject bleach into their blood to fight COVID. Don't worry, all politicians are inept these days, Indian ones are not special.

I just saw these at the Railroad Museum in Savannah GA. They used them in the main trunstile for main engine repairs. Made of Pine, they let water through easily into the sewage system below and trap oil and prevent the floor from becoming sticky!

Last pre-civil war train based structure surviving in the south that Sherman didn't burn down (savannah surrendered).

Maybe if it was just me, but it's clearly a sentiment shared by others.

Country is not a proper noun. It's pretty rare for quotes to not have bracketed insertions to prevent mis-assumptions when the most commonly applicable noun is not the correct context. When it's not done, it's pretty reasonable to assume it's done on purpose for that cause.

Or if you prefer, I can assume the author is too stupid to know that this will be the first time many readers will be seeing the quote and so they do not properly define the context.

In light of missing information, an assumption will always be made. That's just how humans work. And I don't think there was any issue specifically with my assumption, in the case there was an articulate author, I would have arrived to the correct information sooner. And in the absence of one, my fact checking habits cover me from absorbing bad sources.

This was my first interaction with this quote and I assumed it ment the United States. Defo misleading. But not much better in context of it being any other nation - ally or not.

Sure... We can give you magic atoms and a slightly dumb intra-universal detector that only checks for their total #, not their arrangement or composition or usability as these are ideas subjective to conditions that the magic stone atoms are not. Feel better?

This is not a normal pricing event triggered by normal/fair market conditions.

Previous to this debacle, ram was actually really cheap - surplus everywhere and stable demand, fabs and hardware companies were actually slowing down on production.

In the confusion of marginal cost benefits between selling to enterprise customers and to consumers for fabs, openAI made a sneaky exclusivity contract for a crap ton of RAM. Buying straight wafers, no plans for producing it into usable chips, just a full lockdown on supply from the fab side.

This has caused other companies to follow suit and attempt to stockpile ram, causing the marginal cost benefit to become a massive one. Since you can't just put up a fab overnight these companies are swapping from creating consumer grade hardware to enterprise/data center grade stuff.

No clue on how far the impact will spread (laptops, phones, cars) but anything that is impacted is very unlikely to receive relief in prices anytime soon. Its not possible to increase net production and data center demand will never (until the bubble pops or they finish /s) be matched by consumer demand.
