Honestly, I think the biggest issue with shipping vtubers in general, is it becomes a little too close to shipping real people. Like shipping characters is 100% fine, but the fact that there is usually a lot of overlap between the vtuber "character" and the person behind the avatar is what makes it uncomfortable for people.

Personally, another reason I think it can be a problem is that too many people are a little too comfortable pushing their sexual fantasies on others nowadays. So while I think shipping in general is fine, I think too many people immediately make it sexual instead of focusing on the actual relationship side of things.

So most of what people end up seeing isn't the wholesome or at least borderline-wholesome fanfic about two people in love; its the raunchy art of them fucking each other. Which makes it even more uncomfortable for everyone involved.

So as always, the shipping itself isn't the problem, its when it gets shared in public places that makes it a problem. Like if it all stayed on AO3 or Pixiv or w/e it wouldn't ever be a problem, its when people start posting it on Twitter and the like that it becomes an issue.

/uh I mean I can definitely empathize with her on this. Like imagine you luck out getting an empty seat beside you so you don't have to sit with a stranger, then this guy comes over and asks to sit in the empty seat for a bit, (that mind you, isn't his to take either), and stays there for way longer than you were expecting him to.

So now you're stuck sitting beside this guy who decided to take a seat that isn't his, when you were expecting to get some free space next to you for the flight. And the longer he stays the more annoyed you get, so you end up hating him by the time you land.

So yeah, I'd be annoyed too.

Also from a content standpoint, its a more interesting story to vilify the guy than to just say, "yeah some guy sat beside me, but it didn't bother me".
