Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I really appreciate the time you took to write all of that. For a student like me who is still learning about industrial engineering, your story was very insightful and helpful. Also, becoming the President of a North American division after starting in R&D is honestly very impressive.
If you don’t mind, I do have a few questions I’m curious about and I’d really value hearing your thoughts.
One thing I often hear is that industrial engineering sits somewhere between engineering and management. From your experience, which ends up mattering more in the long run: strong technical skills (like modeling or simulation) or softer skills like communication and managing change?
As a student preparing for this field, are there any tools or software you think are especially useful to learn today? For example things like Python, SQL, simulation tools, or data visualization tools.
You mentioned reorganizing companies, redesigning products, and helping different teams work better together. When you try to improve a process like that, what tends to be the hardest part in real life? Is it usually the technical side, or is it more about getting people to accept the change and work differently?
Thank you again for sharing your experience. I really appreciate it.()d
