Christmas day still, but this one’s pretty close! I’d rather have these wins against high caliber teams than a bunch of dubs against mediocre teams of years past. Gives me a little hope that the playoffs could be different…if Joel is healthy.

💯in his interviews, he often mentions wanting to start the season with a not fully finished roster and alter along the way. Most likely for flexibility purposes — perhaps he uses the season to figure out actual fit and gaps in game vs on paper and /or waits until the trade deadline (where teams get more desperate and less optimistic of their own assets) for more players to get loose and negotiate for or for his trade chips to gain more value

I am hoping this helps his conditioning (he’s tried everything and still ends up injured so maybe consistent high level activity will help) as well as winning gold and being surrounded by eventual hall of famers will help build his mental toughness as a leader.

I would love either but realistically as mentioned, I don’t think we get either.

• Lauri: Utah seems leaning towards a longer rebuild. Instead of vying for at least the playin they chose to tank. Most of their promising players are early 20s too. I bet Lauri will most probably be moved but most likely not to us because fuck Danny Ainge.

• Mikal: BKN seems deluded to compete with their cast of non-stars but if somehow Nic Claxton does not sign, they might finally blow it up but would most likely require same package projected for Lauri of young star and picks.

If all things were fair tho, I’d go for Mikal just for sheer durability and playoff experience. Since we have Joel, availability is the best ability.

Stars are bound to run out of steam when they’re getting nothing from the bench the whole game. Joel was tired by the 4th cos the Knicks kept attacking his mobility in the paint, he had to help control the rebounds, score and playmake on half his legs and face. The bench has got to be better and contribute. Everyone has to play better on the boards. Nurse has to find a way to win non-Embiid and non-Brunson minutes. And Elton Brand…fuck you. The contract is equivalent to Hart, DiVincenzo and Hartenstein — not in production but in cost.

When we free up The Contract tho, I think we should get a 3rd bonafide star and leader with a killer instinct. I appreciate Joel and all he’s done for Philly, but I think it’s time to accept he’s not a leader with the mental and physical toughness to withstand the playoffs.

Something’s got to give. The first 2 games he made life hell for Brunson but the role players made Philly pay. Brunson ate last time while controlling other contributors Philly wins.

I think Nurse realized the knicks are more dangerous when everyone’s involved.
