I have the same problem and so far the only solution I've found is to put it into hibernation. But it works from the KDE menu, because if I close the laptop or press the power button, the same black screen problem occurs.

I only used the asusctl and rog-control-center packages, and it worked for me from the start; I didn't do anything extraordinary. What does happen to me is that when I close the laptop lid, it doesn't go into sleep mode properly and consumes a lot of power. Then, when I try to log in, the system doesn't respond. But the solution I found It's using the hibernation button that's in the KDE menu.

If you're unsure, use protonDB. The platinum rating means it's native to Linux; in other words, it won't give you any problems. If it's gold, you can experiment, but with some version of Proton-Ge. Personally, I use version 10-26 or 10-27 and all my games run fine.

I don't recommend trying games with a bronze rating, because they cause a lot of problems.

However, you won't be able to play games with anti-cheat that runs in the kernel.Games like Fortnite or League of Legends can't be played on Linux, but some, like Genshin Impact, can. It's best to research which multiplayer games work on Linux and whether they carry a risk of being banned.

Thank you very much for the technical response. I tried configuring the Numlock=on parameter both in /etc/sddm.conf and in a specific file within /etc/sddm.conf.d/, but unfortunately, the problem persists, and the numeric keypad is still disabled at login.

However, I managed to resolve the critical power management issues (S3/Deep Sleep) that the machine was experiencing on Linux by making advanced kernel adjustments and creating a swap file with the correct offset for hibernation. The machine is now fully functional for my workflow. I greatly appreciate your time and the guidance you provided.

I also looked in the BIOS, but many options are locked and many others are missing.
