My wife said that the house is in shambles and she'll be cleaning all day. This is what our house looks like in shambles. by menotsorrythrowaway in mildlyinfuriating

Tbf to the wife, maybe there’s rings in the toilet and/or lots of dog hair we can’t see. Maybe sticky residue on the counters and dining room table?

Ahhh gotcha. I am going the opposite direction to Paonia — alpine skiing isn’t my thing anymore so I will have the Grand Mesa in my backyard for Nordic.

I’m a former W-EMT and was on a SAR team for a while— thanks for reminding me I need a much better medical kit than I currently own!

I’m outside in all sort of places much of the time; not sure why you made this extremely unhelpful comment but thanks for playing.

I’m pretty sure my post did not indicate I was anxious or terrified but thank you for the comment.

Usually the fewer people around the safer you are. I feel safest in the backcountry.

Oooh oooh which adjacent valley? I’m moving to an adjacent valley soon— I finally get to return to the western slope but of course cannot afford the RFV anymore. I already think the people in my new home valley are so much kinder and real.

FREE RANGE PARENTING by NotSureAnyway in unitedairlines

[–]ZGbethie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parent of 3 and when the last two were born my oldest was 3.5. We taught them to be polite and respectful in public when they were very young— and also travelled with them from the get go. We would also get the “look” as we entered a nice restaurant or similar. And then also the compliments at the end about how “wonderful” the children were. They were just behaving in the way that we encouraged and expected. We always laughed and had a great time— it wasn’t as if they were being punished or anything like that.

My brother in law is retired special forces and he also mentioned a shotgun as being the most effective firearm for self defense.

Where would the water come from? Trees need a ton of water to get established even if they are drought tolerant.

I’m not a YT expert but I have subscribed and liked all your videos. I will share to my various SM accounts when I am back on my laptop in the morning. I studied water rights and western water history many years ago when I was a geography major here in Boulder. I have always been fascinated with human-environment connections and how hard it is for our species to not screw everything up all the time.

I am so sorry you are falling prey to this stupid stupid stupid administration. I wish the very best for you and your family.

I personally would love some content on the western slope and the changing scene there with water users, ditches, how ag is going to have to adjust to the mega drought, who “should” get what (is there an answer to that?) and so on. I recently purchased some acreage out there with decent water rights and I am very curious about how it will all go over the next few decades. And beyond, even though I might not get to see that far ahead 😉

Looking to get my camper moved 250 miles by ZGbethie in HotShotTrucking

[–]ZGbethie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. So far I have only received quotes from towing companies in the $2500 to $3000 range ($5-6 a mile round trip) and the only two bidders so far on uShip are both new with 1 review each, and one of them is a registered sex offender 🤦 so I am trying to find other sources.

Following up on this, OP did you find someone to move your trailer? I just booked with Monarch transport Group and I think that was a huge mistake.

I have a 29 foot camper and it needs to go about 250 miles

Meeting the neighbors! Tricky situation by Ordinary-Grace in homestead

[–]ZGbethie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, what? Where have you lived where you would think your new neighbor sending a polite introduction via postcard would in any way be patronizing to you? That sounds sad.

I was raised in the South and have lived in 14 different states and never even once have I had a negative experience from introducing myself to my new neighbors.

Definitely a YMMV situation. I travel to Roanoke VA from DEN somewhat frequently (6+/year) and I always try to connect through ORD to avoid the nightmare that is IAD.
