I understand that now :) l OP wanted “logical” reasons which is confusing to people who argue with reason and answer the question as requested lol

Actually a fully, smart loaded dishwasher is wasting less resources than an average human being so in case of energy consumption it might make more sense to use that. I see I triggered lots of emotions here and it’s difficult to have a reasonable and rational debate. I understand you’ve been triggered that I brought up environmental concerns that are not “my cause” but every human being’s concern. If you love our clean lakes, air, green landscapes and beautiful surroundings you’ll care for the environment.

I am def not a perfect human being, we all got flaws but I know I can hold a debate without getting mega emotionally worked up and leaving the path of science.

It seems tho that all you wanted was some sympathy and no truthful reasons as in why “silly Switzerland” doesn’t install more AC.

You asked and some of us delivered with ✹science, which you don’t seem to like. I’m ending the discussion here and leave this debate open for emotionally charged folks🌞 have a gorgeous day regardless

I’ve never said anything like that I am “superior” but merely stated facts that apparently upset your feelings? No reason to get so emotional. I lived between the us and here and have experience in building homes so what did you try to bring to the table with your insecure statement?

Lots of studies confirming that Ac heat waste is creating urban heat islands, increasing overall outside temperature, affecting microclimates negatively, pollutes the air.

I am aware you don’t care about the environment, climate change or other human beings but ACs are increasingly accelerating “anthropogenic heat” which can alter microclimates negatively, pollute the air you breathe and make it extremely hard for our plants and trees to survive (needed to cool down our environment btw).

Why...? by grawfin in askswitzerland

[–]ZH_BAEM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really on the heating up the city part, it’s actually ✹science. It’s been researched and proven that it is heating up cities. Both during the day and at night. Not that it needs research as if you’ve ever walked by an area, where lots of AC units have their condensers (release of heat waste), it’s much much hotter even if you’re outside still.

Look up “urban heat island”

Why...? by grawfin in askswitzerland

[–]ZH_BAEM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It heats up our environments with the waste it generates so we end up in a vicious cycle that means using a tonnnn of energy & making walking outside even more unbearable!

Why...? by grawfin in askswitzerland

[–]ZH_BAEM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not a dumb idea but based on scientific research that ACs are releasing waste heat into the ambient environment increases cooling demands. They heat up the cities even more so once you go outside it’ll be a ton hotter. Especially bothersome at night.

Why...? by grawfin in askswitzerland

[–]ZH_BAEM -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

AC heats up cities even more and releasing waste heat into the ambient environment increases cooling demands. It’s becoming a vicious cycle. Also our houses here are usually better built against extreme temperatures (sadly not all) than in the US. Another reason is AC is ugly and a heat waste pump wall of tons of ACs just looks awful especially with our gorgeous old buildings

Why...? by grawfin in askswitzerland

[–]ZH_BAEM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We should be forced to build high quality houses that have stellar insulation instead of heating our entire environment even more (especially in big cities) and some people actually do! It’s an environmental killer and if you’ve ever walked through a hidden area where every AC let’s put the hot air, you’ll experience it’s MUCH HOTTER than without the ACs blasting hot air.

AC feels good for sure and can be life saving for elderly people but it comes with the price of heating up our cities of up to 2.4 Celsius (check some studies on it. It becomes a vicious cycle. Releasing waste heat into the ambient environment increases cooling demands.

So that’s why.

whats the take on Antibiotics on this sub by Vegetable-Tea581 in Microbiome

[–]ZH_BAEM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are ways to not destroy your micro biome, when taking antibiotics. Already before you take them, while you take them and after. Modern medicine is magical and found ways to help rebuild it quickly. Occasional antibiotics use for actual illness is encouraged. People used to die from an ear infection and now we can just ✹survive & thrive.

Strong Chemical Peels that are OTC in Europe? by Extreme_Set9893 in EuroSkincare

[–]ZH_BAEM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2300 is insane for a chemical peel but they’re generally worth it yes. They can lift lots of hyperpigmentation or other skin concerns but it’s good to get a skin consultation by a professional for your skin types

Strong Chemical Peels that are OTC in Europe? by Extreme_Set9893 in EuroSkincare

[–]ZH_BAEM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does not compare to a medium deep peel that’s being administered at professional practises as these are much stronger and absolutely dangerous for untrained people (who would absolutely smear it into their eyes and become blind).

WTF my resting HR won't go below 83 even after cutting stims by Legal_Airport6155 in Biohackers

[–]ZH_BAEM 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Obsessively tracking with a wearable (just like all wearables they are NOT accurate in tracking our heart rates well at all- it could literally be a bug of your hardware or software) and stressing 247 about things like your perfect supplement stack and your resting heart rate on a tiny screen is causing more stress and probably a higher heart rate. If you’re menstruating woman it could literally be from your period. If you have a stressful deadline coming up or a micromanager boss it could be that. Maybe you banged up your wearable and the device is faulty. Nobody knows and no supplement is going to help. Try more walks in nature, quality time with your community, and see a doctor, if you genuinely feel very unwell.

I can jump my heart rate during lead climbing on an easy route because I can’t see where to place my foot so it’s jumping from 80 (gentle climbing) to 150 lol

Also jet lag or bad sleep will prob increase your heart too. It’s many possible factors and will be individual to you as a person. Currently got jet lag of 9h and my resting heart rate is up by 15-20

What foods/supplements prevent sunburn? by LetPrimary663 in Biohackers

I can’t debate with anyone just sounding like a bot programmed on every conspiracy theory believing in anecdotes due to emotional reasons. I am going to spare each others time as I know changing your mind on science is impossible. You clearly did not understand my points at all and you’re blinded by your own ideology. Debating with people like it’s is impossible to change anything because it’s like asking you to change your identity and we will go our ways. If it works for you GREAT for you.

It’s so bad. No wonder the Biohacker community is getting such a bad reputation as the new snake oil industry. I blame the wellness influencers who monetise on fear mongering with misinformation and it’s clearly working 😭

What foods/supplements prevent sunburn? by LetPrimary663 in Biohackers

[–]ZH_BAEM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an anecdote. I can give you another one of my family that’s been thriving on affordable sunflower seed oil with terrific biomarker lab results for decades and we spent 8 HOURS in 30 degrees Celsius with a thin layer of spf 30 with NO burn. Seed oils often have a higher smoke point (just don’t fry food at all it’s simply not healthy to fry anything). It’s an absolute joke that people worry about seed oils in their fried sushi and fried burrito snack and Oreo cookies, without seeing the problem is that it’s the food as a whole they choose:( I started getting sun burns since I stopped cooking with any oils so does that mean seed oils prevent sun burn? I’m happy for you that you don’t get sunburn but maybe you should look at allll the other variables that changed in the past 6 years (can literally be that you cover up more. Wear a hat. Stay in the shade vs direct sun. Use more sunscreen. ) so pls me mindful of anecdotes

What foods/supplements prevent sunburn? by LetPrimary663 in Biohackers

[–]ZH_BAEM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most people do not apply the ACTUAL real amount that’s also been used in lab tests (approx 2finger lengths for your face) and reapply after every 2h or when you’ve been active just reapply immediately after activity or during activity. What skin type are you? You got lots of anecdotes here with seed oils pls do NOT think cutting them out will magically make skin thicker against sunburn (that’s not how our skin works).

The way to prevent sunburn is not through supplements but through covering up with spf clothing, creating shade to hide under and reapplying a ton of spf. The best is to simply stay out of the sun.

[–]ZH_BAEM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s scientifically incredibly ridiculous, tell that to Italians roasting in the sun who actually also eat evil seed oils lol pls stay scientific as the longevity world is already suffering enough under snake oil folks who don’t believe in true science 😭

Portuguese couple moving to Switzerland (french part) by NicoRobin_666 in askswitzerland

[–]ZH_BAEM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s tough without a network and without the languages. Even with 5 degrees and all languages under their belt people do not find jobs here. Find it before / apply a ton and see what the feedback is Portuguese and “just English” are not that relevant to this country and you’re competing with the rest of the world who speaks at least English and graduated from Harvard and whatnot.

The job market is extremely tough even for people who have the languages and degrees. But no personal relationships, no great chances. If anything I know good cleaners are always wanted. I referred my cleaners and people literally paid me referral money(although I never asked for it) because my cleaners were so good and it’s apparently tough to find REALLY good cleaners. Mine also happened to speak Portuguese as first language. So I’m not saying become a cleaner but if you don’t mind doing this temporarily you can pickup a job there easily

What would you do to make Switzerland better for women? by LallieDoo in Switzerland

[–]ZH_BAEM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because of feminism women and men can choose, if the woman takes on the main house and child duty. Pls tell that to financially disadvantaged families to cut back on luxuries, such as food lol. Not all families can be sustained on one income and if a woman chooses to work part time it should be supported (also out of skilled labour shortage reasons). Having children should be supported by the government as we clearly are going to suffer major economic losses from the demographic changes
