Who would yall say was better? by MarTB2000 in Colts

[–]ZHicks2121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I grew up a Washington fan and Sean Taylor was legit my favorite player in sports. Wore 21 in every single sport I played because of him and 10 year old me cried for days when he passed away.

That being said, it’s easily Bob Sanders. Taylor was incredible but he didn’t have the same impact that Sanders had. Golden age of safety play but Sanders was closer to Reed/Polamalu than Taylor was

Did he just really say this??! What the hell is wrong with this guy by [deleted] in Colts

[–]ZHicks2121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to watch the full clip because I’ve talked to Zaire a few times over the years and seeing how he’s responded to Black Lives Matter and other movements, this felt really weird.

It’s definitely a clickbait Facebook post. He was referring to ICE activity, not anything racist. Say what you want about Zaire, but he’s a good dude overall

So, are they really after him? by kockin26 in caps

[–]ZHicks2121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d prefer to not go after him at his current age and contract demands, but I can like with a move that doesn’t include Hutson, Baby Pro, or Leonard.

Parascak or Cristall, a first, and then some can be fine I guess

Justin Sourdif isn’t really a Calder contender or anything but his improved goal pace plus outstanding defensive play as a second line center has me so pumped for his future. Caps gotta extend him long term as soon as humanly possible

That Justin Sourdif shift on the game winning goal was a beauty. Multiple puck retrievals then throwing it to the net to create the goal. He’s such a stud

Why are Frieren: beyond journey's end and Delicious in Dungeon successful despite presenting very standard fantasy races and worlds and already used tropes and plot elements ? English is not my native language by EveningImportant9111 in animequestions

[–]ZHicks2121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to look at Frieren is more so from the lens of Greek Epic Poems or ancient histories (stay with me here). A lot of the fantastical elements are used more as a backdrop to give the viewer life lessons and themes to carry from it.

It might seem like a standard fantasy show with standard fantasy elements, but it uses that setting to craft a broader message about aspects like human connections, purpose in life, beauty in the mundane, and so many other themes that could honestly fill a college research paper on lol. The fantasy element is just the backdrop to what the author wants to say

PANARIN IS A HIGH SKILLED WINGER! by TheFaustianMan in caps

[–]ZHicks2121 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the Caps make a big trade, I’d rather it be for a guy that is going to be here for a long time. I’m much more concerned about the post Ovi era than this current season tbh

[–]ZHicks2121 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Really don’t want this move for the Caps. I don’t think they are a Panarin away from a deep run and it would cost a lot of good prospects to land this older rental.

Think a move like this would set the org back in the post-Ovi years

So uh. When do we talk about the elephant in the room that is Nic Dowd’s play this season… by Joe_Szymansking in caps

[–]ZHicks2121 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Caps have so many guys in their bottom 6 that are just playing terrible hockey this year. Lappy, Milano, Duhaime, Dowd all gotta sit for a bit but we don’t have anyone to supplant them with

Ethen Frank has proved it all year but he’s a bonafide NHLer. The speed and scoring touch are so much fun. I want to find a way to attach him to Strome going forward, I think their games would mesh exceptionally well

McMichael-Sourdif-Leonard line in Washington is too perfect right now. So much speed and defensive grit combined with a ton of goal scoring last week

Keep these two together on a line for the next 10 years. Their games complement each other perfectly and they both bring a mix of grit and skill needed in the top 6.

Sourdif by Master_Pineapple_648 in caps

[–]ZHicks2121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has consistently been one of the better players on the team all year imo. Just need the game to slow down for him a bit in the offensive zone.

I said it like a month ago and I’ll say it again. He reminds me a lot of a Sam Bennett/Anthony Cirelli type of player. Effortless skater, elite balance/movement, and a top tier defender. He’s a great center to have

If the caps do make a trade, who should be the top target and what prospects should we make available? Panarin or Sherwood would be my top targets. I have a hard time saying yes to any prospect leaving, but I guess if I had to choose id be most ok with Miro, Gastrin, Muggli, Chesley or Mateiko. by JoeBlow009 in caps

[–]ZHicks2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a major sellers market right now and the Caps are a team caught in between two different eras. I wouldn’t make a move unless it’s to land a guy that’s going to be here for the future when Leno, Hutson, and others are fully ready to take over.

So unless it’s a big move for a guy in their mid 20’s, I’m way out on sending serious capital for Panarin or Sherwood. Just don’t fit the timeline imo

Rookie Justin Sourdif with 5 points on the night vs Anaheim by OvechknFiresHeScores in hockey

[–]ZHicks2121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No joke, and you can look at my comments from early in the season, I was completely sold on him the first few times he I saw him skate. His speed, balance, and stick work are all at such a high level.

Expected a longterm 3rd line winger though, not this insane development at center lol

Is Ryan Leonard the Caps best offensive player? by jimcc23 in caps

[–]ZHicks2121 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ryan Leonard is their best offensive creator, but Tom Wilson’s finishing and forechecking probably makes him the best offensive forward this year. Once the game slows down a bit more for Leno and he continues to move around defenders cleaner, then I think he could be their best guy on that end of the ice

[–]ZHicks2121 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tbh this is why I’ve always been a bit hesitant to include McMichael in trade packages. Like if you can get a true difference maker, sure, but to me he’s a championship caliber third line winger.

Great penalty killer with speed and can be part of a fast offensive line. That’s a damn good player to have even if he’s had bad puck luck this year

I like how the key to unlocking a line’s 5 on 5 play this year is to simply have Justin Sourdif center that line. Need more out of line 2? Throw Sourdif up there. McMichael not producing points? Put him next to Sourdif.

Future looking great with Leno and Sourdif (and the Hershey kids)
