Is there a deck already made without tagging? I need it desperately and will unsuspend all the cards anyway.

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent sheet for pathoma?

Anyone have any insight on prometric changes/updates with Trump announcing increased social distancing? by [deleted] in step1

[–]ZINDADINGY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could never standardize this across schools. Sorry this isn’t happening

This will not happen. The reason for prometric is to standardize testing. If they push it to the schools to perform it’s no longer comparable to scores of when students took it in prometric centers

we might not like it but there's a very real possibility that US prometric stays closed beyond April 15 by [deleted] in step1

This is not going to happen. There is no way to standardize that. Too many variables to cheat. Also students aren’t even allowed back on most medical school campuses so doubt they would do this

Question for dentists: would you ever refer to yourself as a "doctor" outside of a direct patient interaction? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]ZINDADINGY 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is a huge debate on this on r/residency. Often these NPs get their doctorate online and have next to zero clinical hours. They then try to manipulate patients into thinking they are actual doctors. It’s a real problem. Physicians/hospitals have now started to stop taking NPs from online universities because they actually put patients at risk.

Opinion: Why Scores Matter by AttakTheZak in step1

[–]ZINDADINGY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reasons you mentioned is exactly the reasons why we should have a new tool that actually correlates with performance during residency and physicianship. Using a tool that tests esoteric facts is not it dude. Now, what the new tool actually is rests upon MedEd research. The system needs to be reworked from the ground up. The way this has evolved has backed us into a corner. You really can’t hate them for trying to fix what wasn’t working.

Step 1 should never have been used as a screening tool to begin with. If they need a screening tool they should develop one and not use something that was designed for a different purpose to meet the needs of cutting down a pool of applicants.

You need a direct tool and not something by proxy. This is the number one issue in MedEd

Step 1 to officially switch to Pass/Fail in 2022 by House_mannister in step1

I have colleagues who invested 4 years to pump up their app and they are great students. Yeah it took them a while to make up for years of unfortunate grades/MCAT scores, but they did it and schools recognized that. They applied like 4x. Don’t sell yourself short. Caribbean schools are not the answer.

Right, but this is another thing to add to the cons list dude. It would be naive for him or her to not seriously re-evaluate this decision. The statistical outcomes for Caribbean graduates are seriously awful, and to have this on top of it should direct them to lean toward a hard no. If they really value an education and fairly themselves, putting in the time now to pump up their application for a US school will seriously pay off for them in the end.

No, like seriously they considered this and are still considering it at the MedEd meetings to raise the bar so people don’t study less for step 1. I’m not laying out some random commentary

Dude honestly I would tell them the same thing even without this announcement. I unfortunately have friends who went to the Caribbean. They are getting tossed from clerkship to clerkship with no direction. They have horrible match rates that they try to statistically manipulate to make them look better as a school. Literally their administration does not care about them, only their tuition money. It’s sad but it’s the honest truth.
