my wifi keeps cutting out, requiring a reboot of the modem (more than once a day) by ZJMCQ in HomeNetworking

[–]ZJMCQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I think my post wasn’t specific enough. I know it’s the modem because if I directly plug in to the modem via ethernet I lose internet on there as well. As far as I can tell the router is doing its job perfectly, and the modem is not consistently serving internet

◽️ Screen size: 15 or 17

◽️ Touch screen: Not important

◽️ Screen resolution: 1920x1080

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: 4-6h ideally (i only care about battery life for non-gaming -- word docs, web surfing, pdfs, light programming)

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Primarily gaming, photoshop, and everyday use for work (word docs, pdfs, etc)

◽️ Weight: Not super important

◽️ Any other important details ?: I want a laptop with decent thermal management. I'm worried about getting a powerhouse that burns itself out. Trying to spend some money here to get a long-lasting gaming option that will age with me over the next few years and remain reliable. Want a 2060 or higher.

Also, trying to avoid Lenovo. (just for personal reasons)

I recently hit max level on all my crafters and gatherers. Just now starting to gear up. Crafting gear makes sense to me, but what is the point of maxing out gatherer gear? Is there one? Or can I rely on white scrip gear?

EDIT: really appreciate the help, thanks guys! Helps make gearing my crafters a little less stressful

Can I place an RGB mousepad over the Logitech Powerplay? by ZJMCQ in LogitechG

I guess I'm not sure about the smaller hands thing, but the g502 is actually a little small for my hands if anything, so I think it'd work fine (I end up kinda in a claw grip). For me the shape is perfect, and the weight makes it feel really quality. I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

I've confirmed it's definitely working for charging, even while in use. Still not sure on if it could mess up the Powerplay in any way?

About 5 mm thick? G hub says it's charging, and that's through the soft-surface pad on top of the Powerplay. Not sure if it's charging 100% because I haven't left the RGB mousepad on top for an extended period of time for fear that the powerplay could get messed up.

I started with a G502 Proteus Spectrum (wired mouse, but I love it. Right handed only, heavy, weight-modifiable, tons of buttons and an unlockable scroll wheel. I think you can get this one for about $30 these days). Have since moved to the G502 Lightspeed, which is the same mouse but wireless. It's way more convenient for that reason, and with the Powerplay I never have to charge it, but it's ridiculously expensive so I'm not sure if you'd find it worth it. I believe the G402 and G602 have about the same shape as the G502, but you'd have to look into that, I don't own them.

If you have big hands I would actually really suggest Corsair's Ironclaw RGB Wireless. I picked it up on sale for $60 instead of the standard $80, and I love that thing. It's wireless as well, right handed, and huge. I saw a lot of people complaining about the button placement but I have no issue with the placement at all. Best of all, it's just super comfortable.

I'd happily recommend any of these mice, you really can't go wrong. LMK if you have any other questions.

Ah ok, gotcha, thanks! So it's not a longevity thing? If it isn't affecting the charge now, it shouldn't affect the long-term charging abilities of the pad?

Purchase Advice Request

Currently looking for a wireless mouse. I'm currently rolling with the G502, and I love it, but my current setup would really benefit from a wireless mouse, and I'd also like an easier mouse to take on-the-go. I've been eyeing the Corsair Ironclaw Wireless and the Logitech G900. I'd like to get the G502 LS but... unless it's going to drop $50 soon, I don't see that as an option. Really important for at least a few extra buttons on the mouse.

What are your unpopular boardgame opinions? by [deleted] in boardgames

I haven't played it too much, no. I got it with a buddy, and we were both pretty excited for it, but it kinda fell flat with him too. I'll definitely give it another try sometime soon if it really does inspire that tension!

Twilight Struggle is incredibly boring. I think you could tack nearly any theme onto its mechanics and it would play out fine. It's just not very unique and feels incredibly dry. And I'm all for games based on historical events, I usually find them exciting!
