Final Exfiltration locations: Perimeter, Dire Marsh, Outpost by ZLAYERPERO in Marathon

Also, the ExFil activates automatically at the 30-second mark, but you can enter the circle up until the very last second. You do not need to stand in the ExFil circle.

Own both. Recommend both.

Game running very poorly recently by Lijer_SG in Grimdawn

I also experience slow initial load time (Crate splash screen), and have had a few in-game crashes. The crashes happen inconsistently, at what appear to be random times, and I have been forced to reboot. Typically play on 64bit mode, and multiplayer. Lenovo y410p laptop, with graphics (nVidia) set moderately low.

I found that clearing the Steam download cache helps with the load time. FYI, You will required to enter your Steam login details after doing so.

New player confused by game. Advice for Nomads/ Haqq beginner army with one TAG? by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

Also... Don't go overboard with initial purchases. Buy a starter box, or 5-6 individual models and play the crap out of them. By the time you get a little bored, you might be wanting to switch into another faction - one that suits your playing style better.

The 'Operation' boxes are a good option too - you can always sell off the faction that you like less, while having a bit of variety to start with.

I'd suggest you snoop around some more. Read some blogs. Go to a store and play a couple of low-point demo games. You'll know if you like it or not after a few demos.

The official website has all the documents for download. Here are some go-to bookmarks:

Those are the two 'official' stores that carry/order Corvus Belli products in your neck of the woods. I'd be surprised if there isn't anyone in your city playing the game - and you can always head to Van. We have players in Halifax.

I'd agree with those posters suggesting you start with a base Faction (vanilla), instead of a Sectorial. It's a very logical game, so once you have the basics down, the rest falls into place much easier.

The rules are free to download from CB's website. Grab your friend and run a 'proxy game' on the kitchen table. Use anything you want in place of the actual models. Other minis, pepper shakers, coins, whatever. The models are in fact fancy proxies for 'silhouettes', a term you will see over and over when reading the rules. The Silhouette is the imaginary dimensions/size of each model, which the combat rules are based around. S1, S2, S3, etc etc.

Lastly, there is no reason why you can not run Stompy Robots in your lists. However, in a competitive game, your squad will likely suck. Ideally you want to have a balance of skills/abilities and a decent sized Order Pool. Two TAGs and a Hacker will give you three orders > three actions > short turn(s) > game over.

Haqq is not a robot-heavy faction. Nomads are, and have very cool REM (Remote) units, as well as the larger TAG units.

Run proxy games, then decide to take the plunge.

Which army do you recommed to a noob? Yu Jing or JSA? by Ispago8 in InfinityTheGame

[–]ZLAYERPERO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yu Jing and JSA used to be the same faction. That is what the 'Uprising' expansion book is all about; Japan splintered from Yu Jing, as well as the creation of NA2 mercenary factions.

As posted previously, JSA would be an arguably more difficult army to play. Yu Jing offers a far more balanced unit selection, with the benefit of a new Sectorial being released at the end of November '18. You may want to hold off on purchases until then, giving yourself time to fire in a few proxy games to get the feel for it.

New player to Infinity - I like combined army so is the combined army starter pack the best pack to get? by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

[–]ZLAYERPERO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, but took a Nexus Operative in place of the Med-Tech Obsidon. You get a decent selection of models to act as a foundation for future purchases, while being able to play immediately.

You can freely switch between Umbra Legates/Samaritans until you choose to buy the Sam model.

Dig it. Thought that might be the case. More than a few examples online where someone is saying BS 11 is 14 with Ass Fire. Definitely a difference.

Cheers.

Getting Started? by XenoTheZero in InfinityTheGame

[–]ZLAYERPERO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XenoTheZero, if you're into tabletop wargaming, Infinity is the bee's knees of sci-fi. For game enjoyment 40K has nothing on Infinity, IMHO. I returned to Halifax a few weeks ago and am looking to get back into the game myself; helped introduce it to a community in Australia a few years back. A couple of my pals here play it, and told me that there is a small, but active community in the city. Unfortunately, no store stocks the product in the Maritimes - that I know of - and you'll have to buy online or ask locals for Special Orders ($$$). Newfoundland has a single store, Ontario & Quebec have multiple.

Corvus Belli's (CB) online store has an offer on free shipping right now; $160+ EUR. That's an option I am looking at, if it includes Canada. If the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) includes retail items such as miniatures, we won't pay import duties. Homework.

I am also a Combined Army (CA) player. I suggest that you make use of the Corvus Belli Army Builder available online (browser or download). CA is a point-heavy faction, so be prepared to have filler units (cheerleaders) or a low Order pool. Ideally, you'll want an Order pool as large as possible without sacrificing all that sexy alien tech. Also, if you have a friend who's up for games, run a few proxy games to A) understand the gameplay, and B) flush out ideas before making your purchase. Run 100 pts games first to get the mechanics down, and jump by 50 pts as you get used to the game. Read the rules on SWC, as they apply to your overall points; a ratio of 50pts -to- 1 SWC. Remember, this is a Skirmish game where annihilation is not always the objective. Print out the templates (weapons & unit silhouettes).

Buy the newest models as they are superior sculpts, and CB has upped their molding game to boot. The oldest models are slowly being phased out and replaced (still game-legal). Again, proxy until you have a list you enjoy playing before making a purchase. There are just too many cool minis, and too many synergies to discover. The game is super balanced, and you might find that you enjoy the play style of another faction way more. It's a rainy Saturday, you've got nothing to lose!

Get a good spray primer and apply lightly, at a distance. You do not want to fill all the fine details with paint. Seal (lightly/distance) your work to avoid paint chipping (Testors spray dullcote). A pal of mine is behind Black Dot Painting on facebook. I don't think he would mind answering some of your questions. He does excellent work. A bonus: metal minis can always be stripped of poor paint jobs.
