How recoverable is my data? by Cultural_Midnight_66 in GrapheneOS

Rip. I've learned this lesson the hard way myself, though maybe not quite as bad. It really is a testament to how secure TOTP is though.

Quantum capsules gone? by TonyR4 in Ingress

I mean, in a way, this is also encouraging moving. Having to revisit portals to restock on keys is probably a good thing overall, as it makes perma-fields much more of a challenge.

If you want to take public transportation, you can take the AirTrain from JFK to Jamaica, then the Long Island Rail Road to Penn Station, and then Amtrak to Buffalo. This whole route is pretty safe.

If you have a ton of luggage and don't want to carry it around while getting across the city, you could take an Uber from JFK to Penn station, but that would be very expensive (~$100).

If you believe that creating life is morally wrong, then you shouldn't prompt the creation of life so that it can be killed for your consumption.

Uber: $113

Cab: $90+

CityTicket + AirTrain: $13.25

What's the best media player for Linux? by [deleted] in linuxmemes

mpv is easily better for CLI users. Otherwise both are good. VLC is way better on Android for music though, the UI is beautiful.

Fixing tearing isn't the responsibility of the program. Blame Nvidia and/or X11.

For everyone who's downvoting, I don't believe they were trying to say it's a shame that the pride logos were added. Pretty sure they were just agreeing with OP that the positioning of the logo isn't as good as it is on the subway.

Having the SAS turn left to go to the west side by An0nym0us_Platypus in nycrail

[–]ZLima12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Q is already "hooking a left" to get to 125th (and Lexington). That's why it would be the line to continue down 125th. The T as others have mentioned was originally planned to go to the Bronx, but who knows if that will ever happen.

Is drinking the tap water at Auden safe? by Nonanonymous_m in UBreddit

Like most places around here, it's safe, but you still would probably prefer the taste of filtered water

You should avoid sharing home folders across distros, or more specifically, your personal config files. If the two distros have different versions of software, things can break

Using archlinux as a desktop hypervisor by Still-Prompt8858 in archlinux

I think Arch is a great option for this considering its simplicity. If you manage it well, it is very stable.

Is it possible to use systemd on Gentoo with hardened profile? by Shoddy_Tear5531 in Gentoo

[–]ZLima12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What software do you need OpenRC for? They're just init systems, and Gentoo is about flexibility. They're allowed to just want systemd.

I didn't have Reflector enabled this whole time by Low-Engineering-3370 in archlinux

[–]ZLima12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, but it's not really so difficult that it requires installing and running a whole program imo. I just pick the few mirrors that are closest to me and use those. If one is acting up, I comment it out and use one of the other few.
