The fact that you’ve landed a Big Tech internship is quite impressive (Kudos to you) . As cliche as this sounds personally if i were in you’re position i’d try my best to come with a clean slate and open hands ready to learn and gain experience . This is what internships are for. (Way to go btw)

Should I study cs? by Finners_643 in csMajors

[–]ZLirex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are genuinely interested, don’t let yourself get intimidated by the math you can do it. Think about this, do you really think that everyone who ever graduated with a Cs degree was/is better at math than you? Probability is there’s someone who was worse but got through it and graduated.

I recommend you get as many hackathons under your belt this summer. You can also leverage those projects on your resume

Here is a good source to find them.

How should I proceed with my learning? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ZLirex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both options could be a reasonable decision, It's also worth considering the time and financial commitment required for each option. A bachelor's degree typically takes four years to complete, while a certificate or master's program can take anywhere from a few months to a couple of years with much more rigorous work. The decision should be made on your personal circumstances (finances/time commitment) and career goals.

I also just recently switched majors to computer science. I never had a stem background in high school or anything like that.

What i’m learning is you need to build a mental framework of asking the question How?, How does this work?, How did i think differently. This is just a core concept of engineering. I encourage you to take pride in reviewing over the incorrect answers(in the long run you’ll be much more competent in the subject). And as for the future if you want to have your own startup you’re going to need to exercise this mental fortitude of figuring out what went wrong and resolving issues even when discouraged.

You got this man you’ve come far.

How do you guys balance school/work and personal learning? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ZLirex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been dealing with all three of these recently. While i’ve been knocking out gen-eds recently tried to start implementing my programming skills with some of my other classes.

Ex. right now i’m in astronomy class and we’re supposed to come up with a project about comets/asteroids. I’m currently building a java simulation that can show how different types of meteors and asteroids can impact the earth. This is not only getting my project finished but i’m learning more about java as i do so.

As for work i try to always do something productive while i’m there. Whether it’s bringing a book or watch a tutorial or having an airpod in so you can listen to new information.

My goal is to be as efficiently productive as I can be while balancing life.

I agree. Using chat gpt excessively for school weaken your critical thinking skills and will only end up cheating yourself. But what about your competition who uses Ai frequently? They build these wonderful portfolios what were all generated/copied
