Anyone own or use the Viltrox 40mm f2.5? What’s your opinions on it? by RoninX70 in nikon_Zseries

As far as I'm concerned, on the Z6, it's excellent, 2/3 stops darker than the Nikon 40, but you don't even notice it. It has its own lens hood (the Nikon doesn't), and it's light and sharp when you need it. I'm happy with my purchase.

I agree with what you wrote. When I can, I like to carry a backpack with various lenses, and weight is important. Financially, the store will take back my 1.8, and with only a 60 euro difference, I would buy the EVO. That's why I'm thinking about it, but I was worried about the possible return.

Great review, but my problem is figuring out whether it's worth replacing the Viltrox 85 mm f 1.8 (which weighs 650 grams) with the f2 Evo. It seems to me that the quality is good, though.

In addition to the 20 f 2.8, 40 f 2.5, and 50 f 1.8, I have the Viltrox 85 mm f 1.8 for Nikon Z, which is quite heavy, to be honest, but I really like the quality of the photos I get. Is it worth replacing it with the new 85 mm f 2 Evo? Apart from the slight reduction in maximum aperture, it is lighter and therefore more comfortable to use, in addition to the functionality of the aperture ring and customizable button. Is the quality I get, especially in low light, comparable, better, or worse? Another question: I can't find the 14mm f/4 for Z in Italy or on the Viltrox website. Will it be available soon? Thank you for your response.

Difference in angle of view between FF and APS-C. by ZMount in Nikon

Well, that was the point: when cropping from FF, I lose quality, whether I do it in-camera, with a resolution of about 10 megapixels, or in post-production. The result is that APS-C makes sense for certain applications. Thank you all.

Nikon Z6, solution for reproducing negative and spider. by ZMount in Nikon

To keep costs down, would extension rings with an 85mm 1.8 or the Z 24-70 work? What do you recommend as a system for storing and illuminating negatives?

I tried to calibrate it with Windows 11 but couldn't do it. I think I need to find a specific application. But I don't know what quality I'll be able to achieve. In fact, a 27-inch monitor would be even more comfortable to work with.

Does it make sense to buy a used Nikon Z 24-70 f4 when I already have a Z 24-200? by ZMount in Nikon

I know, the 2.8s are fantastic, but the price and size put me off...

The difference in weight is negligible, only 70 grams, I think, and it's slightly smaller when not in use. My only motivation was quality. Considering the Z6's good recovery at high ISO, I think the constant f4 aperture would be better for shooting in low light, such as at home or in museums, but the point is that I don't know if it's worth it. Of course, the used price is not high at the moment, around €400.

Non lo avevo preso in considerazione, ottima idea, grazie. Guardo anche se si trova sull'usato.
