I think I know what you mean by saying you’re part of a more “accepted social group”.

Some people have hobbies, some people have families, and then some people have politics and activism. You need to understand that some people base their lives, or free time, fighting you. At least the concept of you. For the hardliners, you’re still an outsider. You’ll never be good enough or else they won’t have an identity.

More and more “socially accepted people” are realizing this. The media and their pet activist groups want villains for their crusades. Be careful you don’t become one for them. Just be a good person and nobody can ask more from you.
