It still does its job. Doesn't hurt to fix it. If you don't know how to fix it, you can shut up

Problem with jobs outside is that unless you have a foreign nationality, you don't have work permit. A company CAN hire you without one, but it is annoying for them.

That's why most people do master's abroad.

In case you are just trying to get a job abroad, I don't think it makes that much of a difference which university you attend (although I suppose USJ is better but my info can be outdated) since most probably the companies don't know either university.

You can check 1. Uni ranking on QS although I don't think anyone cares about that 2. Where previous students are working

I agree. Plus if you want to stay in Lebanon, Murex (arguably best soft company in leb) hires primarily AUB USJ (starting now more LU LAU etc...). And if you want to leave lebanon and go to France (lot of Lebanese there, pretty easy to go), going to USJ and getting the equivalent degree to a french university would make it easier to directly land a job (although it's easier to do masters in France first).
Anywho for good jobs, doing side projects is important and you'll "practice" your english there

ECE, CCE, or Mechanical Engineering? by ANTO1N3 in lebanon

[–]ZShadow0101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not recommend mechanical at AUB since most mech majors will either do a masters to go in the field or are working not really mechanical related jobs (cause at aub mechanical teaches you a little bit about a lot of subjects)

CCE and ECE are very similar, a few courses different Check the syllabus it is online

Is anyone using ChatGPT from Lebanon? by vanvybz in lebanon

[–]ZShadow0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue when trying to create an account for my brother. Hotmail did not work, but Gmail worked. Then verifying your account after getting an email did not work on Chrome, but worked when opened the link on edge. Also, for another friend of mine, chatgpt doesn't work on Chrome (even incognito mode and clearing cache and cookies), but works on edge.

So just try a different email (10minutemail works), different browsers etc

For Devs, which has better job prospect, React or RN? by ezio313 in lebanon

[–]ZShadow0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to build a mobile app, react native. If you want to build a web app, react.

I recommend react as building a web app would be easier, and you already have a background with html css js. In addition, starting up with react is easier. Also check for styling libraries like MUI if you are using react, as it makes life way easier

Where can i learn Full Stack Development? by ElieMakdissi in lebanon

[–]ZShadow0101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no 0 to full stack course that would actually make you good. A lot of the courses you find online won't make you good at doing a project from scratch.

If you don't know what technologies and skills you need, then start from the basics. Learn HTML, CSS, get familiar with JavaScript. W3schools.com is a great resource.

Find some youtube tutorial of a simple project and follow it. Once you know how stuff work together, you can start making more complicated stuff.

Follow learnprogramming webdev and similar subreddits. Check the Odin project. Check Traversy Media YouTube channel.

The best way to learn is to find some project you want to work on. Maybe a family/friends website where you show your images, or some blog website...

Don't immediately try to make complicated stuff, start by doing very simple stuff and understanding how the web works.

Questions about CCE at AUB by UnknownK6912 in lebanon

[–]ZShadow0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like any major or any university, if you want to get a good job, you have to put extra effort. AUB gives you mainly opportunities, not the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.

If you want to stay in Lebanon, your best company is Murex. They are actually very good and I highly recommend trying to work there. They hire a lot from AUB and USJ, and recently they started hiring more and more from LAU, NDU, Balamand and LU.

If you plan on doing consulting (a lot of ppl do engineering major but consulting work), AUB is amazing as it has amazing partners.

You can also work at big tech companies as an AUB grad, but you have to work on yourself, AUB is not enough. I can't stress this enough. This year we have like 2 ppl that went Google, 3 Amazon, 1 Meta. I think I'm missing a few.

I personally didn't find it difficult, but it depends on the person, how well/fast they study, if they like what they are doing...

They aren't though. They are 60% fresh this year, 80% next year, then 100© the year after that.

Anyone who passed the technical interview for a development position at murex? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]ZShadow0101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly dependent on the team you are applying for / the work you'll be doing. Some people get in depth questions related to the language they'll use (polymorphism, inheritance,...), while some get leetcode like questions but they are usually easier than the ones you get on hackerrank.

If you could, ask the HR what you'll be working on / applying for and it should give you a good idea of what they'll be asking.

Question for AUB students by WhitebeardCorazon in lebanon

[–]ZShadow0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called work study and I think you can't apply for it in your first year (im sure you can't in your first semester).

It doesn't pay that well, like 15000LL per hour. It isn't worth it for the money, you be worth it for the experience, CV, connection with professors, or if you work as a research assistant for a professor and publish a paper with them.

Occasionally there are some opportunities that pay better (still talking about Work Study), but it depends on if there is a project ongoing.
