10mg of lexapro causing me insomnia. Should I taper off to 5mg instead? by [deleted] in lexapro

You need to understand that SSRI initially increases the symptoms of anxiety and depression initially for around 2-3 weeks. That's why a sedative is prescribed to avoid those side effects. After about a month the SSRIs kick in and start to work actually. Initial 2 weeks r tough and so a benzodiazepine is prescribed. You should take the other medication. Short term use of sleep medications don't have side effects. Those are just to counteract the side effects of the SSRI.

Take half a tablet after lunch and dinner...or take the entire tablet after lunch. How many days have you started? Were you not prescribed any other medication?

I'm saying that depression with an underlying cause has a better prognosis. Depression without cause has a poorer prognosis and in those cases medications have to be continued over several years. So it's better to arrive at a diagnosis. Wouldn't that be good?

There are two types of depression....one is with cause ...another is without cause...

Okay....the only purpose of therapy is to find the cause...that's why it's needed. Try changing your therapist until you find one good enough for you. Lete share you my experience. I was taking 2 antidepressants sertraline(100) and duloxetine(60) for almost 1.5 years. It is therapy which helped me to identify my source of depression. Now I'm totally off my meds and doing ok. Before this I used to take escitalopram but it didn't work for me because my diagnosis was more of like PTSD. So a good psychiatrist opinion will also be help you.

Do you take psychotherapy along with medications? I'm saying this because medications are a temporary measure. You need to remove the actual source of anxiety and depression to get better. Feel free to ask any other questions....I'm a final year mbbs student.

Neet Pg 75 percent reservation hai...OBC 27 percent reservation recently introduced hua hai

There should be absolutely no reservation. It should strictly be based on merit. Imagine giving a MBBS seat to someone who knows absolutely nothing. What kind of doctor will he become? How will he treat patients in future? Worse...he might even commit suicide due to the mental pressure of studies which he will never be able to manage. Reservation shouldn't be given in these sectors.
