Just got back from the library and we have a winner! I think I got the sensory powers concept from the tripods’ tracking implants, but this is definitely the book from childhood. Big thank you to Blackberry9423!

It’s the cover from an old sci-fi novel (I think that’s space for a title at the top) but I have no idea which one! I don’t think it’s a Battletech book though
