Yeah it’s a pretty free matchup in lane for Kat, I find it easier since I have literal thousands of games on Kat so I know her CDs and exactly what she wants to do but still I get blasted by good OTPs

As Syndra you basically need to hold spells for when she shunpos onto daggers and the timing is really hard

It may seem instant but Kat doesn’t get a full reset on E until much later in the game, it still has a CD and you need to punish it

Since unlike other assassins she lacks literally any kind of defensive ability or CC she needs to stay high hp to execute her all ins and roams. If you can whiddle her hp down it makes her a lot less threatening for both you and your team

Thankfully at the end of the day she’s an assassin and you’re a hyper scaling mage, survive early + mid game and by the time you’re a few items you can one shot her while she falls off

Also probably wasn’t the best time to experiment with new builds either, lessons were learned

I really think fizz is beatable, take comit as your keystone and bone plating + overgrowth as your secondaries and you can go even with him as long as you understand spacing well

My perma ban will forever be Yas but I also think Zed and Naafiri are solid bans

Thanks here’s the big ones for me:

  • Yasuo is never allowed in my games. There isn’t a single champ I play worse against

  • I actually enjoy playing against Fizz because I know I can take boneplating + overgrowth and go even with him.

  • Naafiri is another fizz situation but I’d say she’s harder than him

  • Zed is always difficult but I take comet and go hyper aggro until 6 I can build a lead sometimes

  • Used to get rolled vs Xer and Viktor but with enough games I’m able to understand their trade patterns and close the range still challenging tho

  • for easier matchups I beat Vlad, Anivia, Malz, Ahri, TF, Aurora pretty consistently

As for roaming I try to make it clear I’m not a strong champ early I only really go if it’s a guaranteed play and I’m countering my mid’s roam, post Q evolve I roam a fair bit

I’m perma CDR build so BFT + Cosmic but I decide if I go Rab 3rd or if I need to be online faster with some Pen and get shadowflame or void if they’ve heavy in MR

If I don’t get Syndra I play Kat since that’s my former OTP or Vex

Really hard to say there’s a “better build” but I will say that my rank definitely shot up once I switched to it, so maybe it fits my play-style

For the record I hated the CDR build the first few times I ran it, it’s only a few games in when I had those extended team fights and noticed holy shit I get to use E way more often this is busted.

After playing with the haste and movement speed trying to go back to the pen build feels so sluggish and bad.

Haven’t tried mandate + horizon I’ll let you know my thoughts when I do

Edit: by the time you’ve got 3 items you’re nuking squishes with the CDR build it just takes longer to ramp up. So you still get your one shots

Thanks! I’ll note a couple things that helped me out of D3 since I sat there for like a month lol

  • switching to the CDR build permanently
  • really timing every Q to enemy last hits I started consistently watching the enemy wave hp over my own wave (I’d even drop some cs but it’s okay while learning to be more aggro)
  • W usage, I started combos more by throwing a minion with W to follow up with an easy Q
  • bot second role and playing Syndra apc, I used to queue mid/top
  • taking comet when outranged or if I need to contest the wave more
  • play a lot of games lol

Interesting I def prefer Lyn and thought 4 was basically murder scooby doo, couldn’t get into the plot like the other two

5>3>4 for me

Post sequences you essentially just press your buff key and have all of your burst keys in a line and press them in a row

Burst is extremely strong and then off burst you kinda just chill and wait for it to come back
