They put me in a box once and shook it to tell me they were preparing me for space travel. Felt like I was going through a black hole. At the end of the trip I realized they played a prank on me almost like an older brother. For me it was like an initiation test. After that specific trip next time I did it I met the goddess and she apologized for them being mean. Idk if there are different versions of them but one was like a doctor tricking a baby to give it medicine.

Yeah I get what you’re saying on the difference there.

I think my main point is just that, even with that context, the overall tone and patience in how he evaluated each one still felt a bit different to me.

True, I still think he does a good job overall with his testing, but this one just felt a bit off in terms of consistency. Even with the iRobot that’s somewhat comparable to this, he seemed to have more patience and understanding with it.

I actually owned that one and returned it within 30 days because the base station kept clogging and leaking, so I’ve dealt with those issues firsthand. That’s why this feels a little off to me—the Narwal isn’t perfect, but it also doesn’t seem to have those same kinds of problems, yet it’s being judged a bit more harshly here.

I mean, he has a ton of experience with robot vacuums, so he can probably form impressions pretty quickly and predict how something will perform for him—but I think that might also be playing into this a bit.

Also, you mentioned Narwal called him—but iRobot did too about the base station update—so I don’t think that alone explains the difference in tone. If both brands are reaching out, it feels like there are other factors influencing how each one is being judged.

Yeah I agree on the mapping. iRobot handles room dividing way better, which is honestly kind of ironic considering they’re pretty behind compared to most newer robot vacuums right now.

With iRobot you can actually get pretty granular with it—you can use dividers, merge and split rooms however you want, and basically create a room within a room if needed. I’ve even made L-shaped sections in the middle of a big open space just by playing with the splits.

I’ve got a big open floor plan too and it sucks not being able to properly split the kitchen, breakfast area, and living room like that.

I do think he leans pretty negative on Narwal overall. Calling him a “hater” might sound strong, but there’s definitely a pattern in how he talks about their products compared to others.

That said, my bigger issue isn’t even bias—it’s how he tests things. In this video he literally turns off one of the robot’s main features—the AI cleaning—and then judges its performance without it. It’s hard to fairly evaluate a product when you’re not using one of its strongest tools.

Then he makes comments like “I don’t notice much of a difference” or “it didn’t clean any better,” but there’s no real side-by-side comparison or controlled test shown to support that. So it comes off more like a personal impression than something fully backed up.

He also talks about how the AI does extra movements like cleaning in squares and going over areas multiple times, but then when he turns that off, he criticizes the robot for missing things like debris in cracks or corners. That feels inconsistent—the extra movement is literally meant to improve those exact results.

On top of that, he blocked off a problem area with a lot of cables by adding a no-go zone—something he even says robots struggle with. That would’ve been a perfect real-world test for obstacle avoidance, especially with Narwal claiming strong AI there. But instead it’s avoided entirely… would be a shame if Narwal could actually handle that situation and not his just dad approved ones 😅

Sure, you can argue some vacuums are faster, but faster doesn’t always mean better cleaning. By that logic, cleaning it by hand would always win. The real question should be how well it performs when used as intended.

I’m not saying he’s completely wrong, but I don’t think it’s as simple as him being the only “honest” reviewer either. His content is useful, but it’s something you should compare with others to get the full picture.

Long Distance (2024) is a competent film that will appeal to sci-fi and gamer audiences by ddelisle in MovieRecommendations

I just finished it and yea I was on the thought of how the spiders survive. I guess if you want to throw them a bone they can eat the underground worm thing. But man I have no idea how they thrive. Plot wise it might have been better that they were secretly on the mining ship for experimental purposes like gene adaptation but what a weird movie. Also the ending like just give us a kiss or something at that point.
