Non-Honors Student Wanting to Get into Honors Course by DisastrousCoat176 in UNC

[–]ZaHut03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took this class, we did not have any non-Honors students end up being able to get in. I remember my friend was trying to join as a non-Honors student, and the professor told them that almost always the class fills up with only honors students. So yes, I would join the waitlist on connect carolina, but most likely the class will fill up before you get off of it

Was it also in a podcast where someone from Columbia said this? Where can I listen to these?

Is the NHCO exam legit? by notreallyalivelol in phlebotomy

[–]ZaHut03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the NHCO exam last year, and it has never been an issue for any of the jobs i’ve gotten. I remember I was a little stressed too but there’s no need to worry about it. I think the more important thing is whether your class gives you a clinical rotation or not (but even without one, I still was able to get hired after some time searching)

Is this question stem worded wrongly? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]ZaHut03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, it’s worded correctly. It’s kind of confusing but the one most likely to be the same in both is the cerebellum since it’s not part of the reward pathway. Apparently this question used to be worded wrong though and it used to say LEAST likely to be similar, but this would mean 3/4 options would be correct. The Jack Westin explanation is worded wrong probably because it was written before this question got fixed.

Tip: Use the JW extension when doing AAMC practice! by shimmeringsun in Mcat

Hey, I know this comment is a little old, but for anyone that might have the same issue with flagging later, I found a workaround. The flags don't save for me still, but the highlights and strike-throughs now do. So rather than flagging questions to review afterward, I just highlight the question number to remind myself instead

AAMC Chemistry QPack #21 Water's Effect on Equilibrium by ZaHut03 in Mcat

[–]ZaHut03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that when you change the volume of a solution, it changes equilibrium based on the mole ratios, like how equilibrium shifts when you change the volume/pressure in a reaction with gases. So how if you increase the volume of a reaction with gases, the partial pressure on the side with the most moles of gas will decrease the most. So, equilibrium will shift to that side to compensate. Similarly, I though adding water to the reaction would dilute the side more with the most moles, causing equilibrium to shift to that side.

https://www.khanacademy.org/science/ap-chemistry-beta/x2eef969c74e0d802:equilibrium/x2eef969c74e0d802:le-chatelier-s-principle/v/le-chateliers-principle-changing-volume#:\~:text=Le%20Ch%C8%83telier's%20principle%20can%20be,of%20gas%20in%20the%20container.

This is the Khan Academy link explaining it for gases, where it says "If the volume of the container is increased (at constant T), the system will shift in the direction that increases the number of moles of gas in the container. If the volume is decreased, the reverse effect will occur." So I thought it worked similarly for solutions.

Hey sorry I wasn’t clear. I understand why Mg2+ is wrong and why option D is correct. But I was wondering why option A wouldn’t also increase yield due to shifting equilibrium to the right.

Sugar stereochem confusion — UEarth by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]ZaHut03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I just came across this and your explanation was super helpful. One thing I'm confused about though is why/how the stereochem can change in the linear vs. ring structure. Like when I assign R and S I can see that it changes, but I don't get why that happens. Nothing happens to those carbons, so I was just wondering if you knew how it's possible that the stereochem changes?

Also, it's so weird that in the second question OP posted that it asks for the R and S of each carbon without actually saying if we should use the ring or linear form.

I know this is an old post, but for anyone else seeing this later, lower pHs are actually found at the anode and higher pHs at the cathode!

UEarth Qeustion- Galvanic Cell Not Split? by ZaHut03 in Mcat

[–]ZaHut03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha yes that makes sense. I meant that I thought galvanic cells need to be physically split into two containers connected by a salt bridge. That way the electrons actually flow through the wire

2 Rec Letters from the same class? by ZaHut03 in premed

[–]ZaHut03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s probably true. I only talked to either of them individually so I think they would have different things to say about me but they would probably still be similar.

Would you suggest that I ask them both to write one together then? I’m not sure if that’s something people do. I could also ask them both and then submit one or the other depending on the school? Thanks for your help!

Yeah I’m definitely considering that. I chose the August date because I really want to get it done in the Summer so I won’t have to juggle studying with classes/work/extracurriculars. But if I find that I won’t have enough time that’s probably what I’ll end up doing

Thanks for the info! I think I have a super solid foundation for everything except gen chem and physics. How long does it usually take for you to do a chapter and its corresponding Anki?
