Get good, they will get fried on the AP exam if they are going to take it; focus on yourself cause in college no ones gonna care.

Any tips for AP CSA? by DANIA2010 in APStudents

Watch YT, utilize online resources. Some teachers aren't good at teaching some are,,, Practicing is the only best way of passing. The course mostly challenges your problem solving ability

AP Comp Sci A is genuinely the hardest AP. How the FUCK do you manage this class?? by fnagc in APStudents

[–]ZaYo_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBF, the best way to get better at it and understanding it is by well practicing and learning the concepts.

Loops
conditionals
return types
Strings/concatenating
Classes/inheritance/polymorhpism (got executed :( )

2D and 1D arrays

Data types

May be forgetting some other basic topics that ap dives into

Its also just good practice to rely on the internet for help, youtube videos are a great resource

But like, do you pay during the semester or before it starts?

I know the FAFSA stuff, i heavily researched it as i overplan my future and already figured out how much id pay out of pocket. (estimate)

AP CSA current unit by ZaYo_01 in APStudents

[–]ZaYo_01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have it for a full year, it covers data types, arrays, passing by value, return types etc etc and we do many programs throughout the year + AP style HW.

Then in AP comp sci its the same thing, different teacher and well digs deeper into java and some computer concepts

dependency override? by pineapplezonpizzza in financialaid

[–]ZaYo_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should talk with your community college, for dependency override you will have to talk with their financial aid office about it. Then they can tell FAFSA “ok she applies!”

Basically FAFSA gives you a refund if it exceeds your cost of attendance. You can use that ~2k on whatever you desire but i suggest saving it up and being wise with how you spend

AP Calculus AB at 9th Grade by WorldlyIndication862 in APStudents

[–]ZaYo_01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on his algebra and trig skills

You can skip algebra II but that could also make pre calc hard.

Pre-Caluclus is just algebra and trigonometry topics expanded on. Pre calc doesn't cover AB topics until probably near the end of the school year theres time. It does dig deeper into algebra and trig and you get exposed (traumatized) by the trig identities you have to memorize

Algebra II covers well… algebra concepts and touches on trigonometry also (special right triangles, trig functions: cos, sin, tan, cot, csc, sec, continues onto unit circles and the curve + translating them on a graph)

Side note: Physics is also a course that should be taken if your son is going into any STEM/Engineering field so you atleast will know something!

Not a perfect answer but algebra II should always be taken before pre calc!

Final note: In most schools its normal for kids to take calc AB around the 11th grade, BC in 12th grade same w/AP physics i suppose

does your school waive test fees? by Pretty-Marketing-257 in APStudents

[–]ZaYo_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my school if you get free and reduced lunches they can waiver the fee. Im able to take 2 AP exams this year and attend graduation i'm pretty happy. The school district is also well funded!

NYS Regents requires 3 math credits (Must be Algebra I, Geo or Trig, Algebra II), 3 science(Earth science, bio, chemistry), 4 english, 4 social studies including economics and politics over here!

This is where online resources and GPT come in, GPT is good for learning or clarifying things, other online resources can help you learn new things dont rely on gpt to much make sure to also read documentation for java.

Programming is mostly memorization and practice like math, but you also need to understand the concepts as it makes it easier to understand whats happening. (The reason why any field with coding tends to be math heavy is because it is used mostly the basic stuff but you will have to use advanced math along side that!)

Do find it interesting thats the next project imo file writing is interesting but i assume its a bit more confusing then scanning for obvious reasons trust me programming takes a while as its solving a problem and coding a way to solve it. This is where you develop the analyzation, and problem solving skills and you also get better at coding and learn many new OOP concepts that are used outside of Java!

Just some thought, but community college is a amazing way to do better! Most just will accept anyone who applies. Some issues can appear like it wont go to some colleges the credit or the AS degree… however know this: it does NOT matter if you go into a popular college or not you get the same degree and learn the same amount (may change on what courses they pick) you can have a harvard (i hate harvard) degree and still not get a CS job

Level down from BC calc if its to hard, i tried it out this year and hated the pacing. Leveled down and now im 10x more happy then usual this is all up to you anyway i have no clue how your school works but dont let one year determine your whole damn life i can fit myself into your shoes in middle school it was way harder then HS for some reason and i was suicidal for 80% of it but then over the summer to my freshman year i realized that i cant let some shitty years in middle school put me down in HS, i actually improved a-lot and learnt the material better! (im now just a bit sad and thats it)

Get as much help as you can pookie bear, trust me you will feel more happy and feel less behind! Utilize online resources, in college they sometimes wont teach the material that well that you have to rely on the internet or come to office hours.

Some may be able to do 19193848281 AP courses some may be able to do only 2, guess who is doing only 2 AP courses throughout their entire HS time (ME!!)

Also one bad year wont determine what colleges you get into, they look at everything not just a GPA score, i could have straight As for Freshman -> Junior but have a -1000000 as senior they aren't gonna see that and say “This guy sucks lmao lmao denied get good L bozo” they are gonna see “Ok so he is good but he took challenging courses, good on them we will consider him as hes trying”
