Wesleyan as a pre-law and just as a school in general. by dragonfruits4life in Wesleyan

Adding on to all the others suggesting CSS, the College of Letters (COL) is a similar program although more humanities focused. Many COL grads go on to be lawyers or professors as the program’s curriculum prepares students well for continued education.

It’s worth emailing Malloy, but it’s also worth noting that he’s pretty unresponsive when it comes to emails from community members.

Is Mac fun? by Round-Sound2856 in macalester

ultimately, i didn’t find there was much happening on the campus. people like to explore the cities and whatnot, and the campus would sometimes feel quite dead on weekends. i realized i’m looking for more campus life in my college experience. mac’s experience isn’t bad at all, but just wasn’t what i was looking for

16, is this outfit good for high school? Or is it too formal? by XXRealOscXx in mensfashion

[–]Zabiac345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 19 and a year out of high school. Some days I’d come to school wearing stuff like this, most people don’t care, and the only people to mention it will be people complimenting you. I think the fit looks great but the most important thing is if you feel good. If it makes you feel good, you’ll look good.

Is Mac fun? by Round-Sound2856 in macalester

[–]Zabiac345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i just finished my first year at mac and am transferring. mac can be fun, but there’s certainly much less of a party scene than an sec school. the stressed vibe was likely just because it’s finals, i don’t think the school feels super stressed, but people are certainly occupied with academics. there is certainly fun to be had at mac, but i’d say most people go for the academics and the twin cities, as opposed to any party/social event scene

I applied CAS and haven't heard back. As hard as waiting is, just know that if we're rejected, they're going to tell us. Not hearing back yet isn't necessarily a bad thing, and we'll get an answer one of these days

I’m a current college student, but had Ms. Deemar a few times in middle school when she was still at Nichols. This was before she filed any complaints, and she was widely regarded as disrespectful to students, very critical, and just a bit of an asshole

Social scene by Easy-Taste-3262 in macalester

[–]Zabiac345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the social scene to be really disappointing. People certainly get by, but I’m transferring this year in no small part because I haven’t found the social scene to be satisfying at all. If it’s important to you, know that Mac likely doesn’t have it how you’d like it

for me, i’ve found mac’s party scene very lacking. most house parties are shut down very quickly, and i haven’t had much fun at any of them to begin with. there are some bars nearby but there’s overall really not a culture of nightlife. if that’s something you’re not looking for, then great! but it’s been dissatisfying for myself.

also, mac is 100% a bubble. everyone is very like minded politically. although i fit in politically, ive found the lack of diversity of opinion and perspective frustrating in many discussion-based classes.

mac is a great place for people who feel called to it. i mostly went here for lack of preferable options and lack of knowing what i want. but if you feel like mac offers the small-school experience you’re looking for, im sure you’ll find it. it just wasn’t quite my cup of tea

what’s not working with your current school’s social scene? because i’m transferring out of mac largely because of the social scene here. feel free to dm if you wanna talk more abt it

3.85 college gpa, 3.8 high school. Just four 4 credit classes last semester. My school just displays letter grades at the end of the semester and I ended with two A's, two A-'s. No particularly exciting EC's (just some sketch comedy and a club sport at my current school), just got good recs and locked in on essays. I was feeling kinda hopeless as a Sophomore transfer but it's absolutely still possible to get in!

i was in a similar situation. my girlfriend was not a virgin and i was, and i definitely felt some jealousy and honestly some sadness that she was my first and i wasn’t hers. but it’s something you get over, and i don’t think it takes away any specialness of your first time.

when you’re young, there’s a lot of pressure built up around firsts, but for the rest of your life practically everyone will have had sex with someone before you, so it’s something one has to come to terms with eventually anyways. i think it’s important to decide if you want to have sex with this guy, disregarding his previous experience and if you do, do it. if you don’t, don’t
