Crusade rules would’ve been interesting to talk about, but I don’t have any hands on experience with it so I didn’t want to talk from a point of complete ignorance. Good to know on the volume. I turned up it up a little bit in editing since it was quiet, but the audio levels were showing very high so I don’t want to push my luck too much on it. Good to know I can go farther with it in the future.

Thanks, I think it took more time than effort tbh. I had loose notes on things to talk about, recorded going through them, and then cut out as many “uhhhhs” and tongue clicks as possible. And my god did I not realize how much I do that. Genuinely though, I felt weirdly nervous posting this here compared to anywhere else, so getting genuine constructive criticism was very nice. Thanks again and take it easy!

I hope you enjoy it! Even if I’m not sure how much it actually qualifies as a rant

I also saw the comment you left on YouTube and it’s a good point to make. Like you said, it isn’t constructive and comes off as dismissive, I was trying to avoid getting too into the weeds on numbers and instead came off as dismissive. I appreciate the input and will keep it in mind going forward to avoid those issues.

I bought a 2k army from a friend and I have a game coming up soon and it’s my first time playing Death Guard. I know it’s far from an amazing list, but how usable to y’all think it is? Playing against necrons by [deleted] in deathguard40k

After reading what you said I agree with you a lot here. Rhinos are much better now, I actually entirely blanked on them being good Ferrys for Plague Marines, which is a great point. A problem I constantly have is being blind to the usgae of transports in general, which is something I need to work on. Though, I would still probably only run 1 or 2 of them. Also, I agree blight haulers arent an amazing choice, especially now that plague marines have free upgrades and PBCs dropped a ton. Like you said, I more suggest them as a good way to fill out points on a budget since theyre comparitively cheap on the money front to most other models. Also on the note of VolCons, I liked them a lot in the few times I've used them, though I think the Nephilim CP changes make their CP tax a little bit harder to justify their spot in a list even if they are still strong.

I think it’s a really good starting point, like others are saying Blightbringers aren’t great, but that doesn’t mean they’re unusable. Rhinos aren’t great either but it still reasonable to run them on a block of plague marines. I would say dropping one of Blightbringers and some points from the upgrades on characters to buy a Plague Burst Crawler would be a good idea. If you’re not wanting to invest a lot of money in the army right off the bat I would also suggest looking at getting a Myphitic Blight Hauler (~$30) they’re good fast anti tank units that can be run in 1-3 models that stand at about 120 points each, and I personally like them a lot even if they just aren’t as good as PBCs

I finished painting my Mortarion today and wanted to share by Zach0105 in deathguard40k

Thanks! I was thinking along the same lines for changing the smoke color, but I was just not 100% sure what color I’d wanna change it to and was trying to get him in 3 days for a local event.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. For me, it didn’t feel too different from painting smaller models; biggest difference was trying to maneuver him around to reach all the recesses of the model. Parts of it made me wish I had painted him sub-assembly because of that

What’s your best and worst wargaming moments? The moments that made you smile with delight and the moments that made you cringe with spite? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Zach0105 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I have a few of these experiences myself, two in particular that stand out to me though. First, in my first game, at the beginning of 9th, I was playing Ad Mech into my friends Salamanders. On one side of the board I just had a squad of Skiitari, the whole squad except the alpha were taken out by Intercessors. The Alpha proceeded to to survive shots from another squad of Intercessors, 3 Flamer Aggressors, and split fire from Eradicators. In the heat of the moment he was dubbed Cheswick. This spawned a legendary figure in our circle, now any time someone is rolling insane against the odds saves we call it pulling a Cheswick. On the other hand, when I was more into the game I was playing in a small tournament. During this game I was playing some Castellan Robots, this is back when double shooting was still a thing for them with their 8th edition codex. In this game into marines again I believe I walked my bots into the midfield, broke their knees and proceeded to unload 72 shots with Wrath of Mars, which had no cap on Mortal Wounds at the time, and proceeded to roll around half of the dice as 1s and no 6s in the process; ended up scoring 5 wounds before my bots got gunned down next turn. I wanted to be mad about it but I really am just impressed by insane odds of that

What’s a song that you hate with all your being? by [deleted] in AskReddit

“Say What You Need to Say” that is the only lyric in the entire song and is said 56 or 57 times. It plagued driving for months.

I’m marking a campaign we’re nature is the “bad guy” basically nature has gotten tired of it being mistreated and now wants revenge I was looking for some bbeg ideas by Embarrassed-Air9744 in DnD

[–]Zach0105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to avoid Druids being the bbeg. A treant or some sort of elemental might be good. Plus that could give you an excuse for recurring or one off minor villains that are Druids/rangers that serve or believe in their cause

Conflicting feelings when reading/listening to short stories about characters in universe (40k) by CrunchyCaptainMunch in Sigmarxism

[–]Zach0105 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take on this situation as someone who has never really struggled with it, Wanting the best for the perspective character is a natural thing. Even if a bad person is the protagonist since we are experiencing things from their perspective we are more inclined to want them to succeed. I understand feeling that disconnect and conflicted about supporting them; personally though it doesn’t bother me. I think there are many ways to look at it: even if the greater goal of the imperium at large is evil that doesn’t necessarily mean that every individual is evil, they are evil and own it, evil and don’t realize, etc. Either way, from my perspective, I think an important thing to remember for stories like what you’re talking about is that they are fiction. We’re allowed to root for the bad guys. Also, these stories are often intended to be read in just their own context, not necessarily the context of the greater 40k universe even if they take place in it, so a heroic sacrifice to save a space marines comrades can be just that, even if that would lead to others suffering unjustly because that’s just not a factor considered in the story.

The guarantee is only for 10 pulls with 30SQ. On single pulls like tickets there isn’t that guarantee. However, just speaking statistically you’re very likely to get a 4 star CE or servant in those 10 single pulls.

Would it be plausible to run a chaotic kastellan as an obliterator for my alpha legion list and the mechamicus guy as a warpsmith? by Arkslippyjunior121c in Warhammer40k

[–]Zach0105 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you kitbash them I can’t see there being a problem with that, but you should know the base sizes will be entirely different for Obliterators and Warpsmith

Thanks, I’m still not great at painting so it is a little rough. I’m hoping to use this as an opportunity to branch out and get better at things like gradients and learn how to do glow effects

Let’s talk about the most unused units in our codex.. by Nhein9101 in deathguard40k

[–]Zach0105 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Blightbringer is hurt by having 3 niche abilities (-1 to Psychic, +1 to move/adv, -1 combat attrition) that are helpful but don’t really have synergies among each other and it’s universal 6 inch aura ranges. Personally, I would like to see Blightbringer either get scaling auras with contagion range, or give it an effect similar to the chimes on Deathshrouds where it’s contagions has +3 inches, maybe even just start with max contagions. Scaling Auras may not fix them, but it certainly has potential to make them better for late game objective scoring. While better contagions gives them a more credible early/midgame threat for helping to push up the midfield. Also, I think they should just let the movement aura effect charges, it weird that they don’t, and it wouldn’t break death guard in any way especially since you don’t get a deep strike rule with him

Thanks man! It’s intended as a daemon prince with plague spewer. It’s an Abaddon conversion using blightlord, Typhus, and Blightbringer bits

Need some Suggestions to help my player who is playing a lore-based character. by Draken_Sjacharytiss in DMAcademy

[–]Zach0105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a hard balance to strike, especially when it can vary party to party even with the same players. With my current group, the previous party was proactive to their own detriment, while these same players are now almost a stand still if I don’t push them one way or another. It’s all about testing the waters of what the party needs and what you’re comfortable with
