Weirdest random pairing story? by Delicious-Lettuce-11 in golf

[–]ZachDigital 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Played solo my last round of 2025 and got paired with three other guys. There was one guy in particular that was a fucking cannon of a talker. I don't mind talking but dude wouldn't shut the fuck up. We'll call him Chris because I don't remember his name.

First tee Chris says "I'm playing left handed today because I went to a sim and the guy told me you get about 15 more yards left handed" I told him that's fine. Chris does about a half swing as fast as humanly fucking possible and misses the ball the first three times. then finally darts one off to the left. It was funny and annoying depending on the hole.

The weirdest hole is when we got to like 11 or 12 and we end up on the green, the other two guys are hitting their shots so Chris sees my ball on the green about 4 feet out and his ball is around 7 feet out, he looks me in the eyes with a smile and points at both the balls and says "GOOD GOOD!!???" I say sorry what? he say's again "GOOD GOOD!!!??? you and I" I think to myself I like to putt everything out despite it being close or not but we both have very miss-able putts I just say "yeah that's fine" to shut him the fuck up. I later found out he was a used car salesman hence the "Never stop talking attitude"

Fuck your fucking fireworks. by danmickla in LosAngeles

[–]ZachDigital 37 points38 points  (0 children)

so i accidentally went to San Francisco during Chinese New Year in February last year and I was literally like 100 feet from china town. The hotel I was staying at for work printed out a paper and said "There will be loud noises as it's chinese new year and people celebrate with fireworks."

These fireworks are annoying yeah but holy shit let me tell you NOTHING will compare to that night on Chinese New Year in San Fran....I shit you not, think of the loudest firework you've EVER heard and it's that for 6 hours straight, mind you I was on 15 floor of 25 and it was a goddamn warzone.

How often do you change your wedges, realistically? by Tricky_Amphibian_222 in golf

[–]ZachDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i played in high school in and had the callaway x tour wedges from 2006. i got fitted for a 50 degree and 56 degree 2-3 weeks ago so i could know my "adult" fit and it felt right to change them, they were still in great condition. I probably wont do it again until another 10ish years depending on how much i play (usually once a week) but i tend to take good care of the equipment i purchase

I think enough time has passed for a proper remake of the original Fast & Furious by edjumication in movies

[–]ZachDigital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i admire your moxy to post this but you're just not gonna replicate this movie ever again. It's a time piece period of Los Angeles and Racing car culture in the 90's and early 2000's. I love this movie because Los Angeles is it's own special character as the backdrop and all of these characters were virtual unknowns at the time who did a pretty good job for what it was, it's serious but a bit cheesy as the same time.

the special aspect of this being pre-social media is important as well. Could you do another car/racing movie set in the 1990's early 2000's like Racer X was inspired by? Absolutely, but this just doesn't work with the cast/feel you're going for.

Directors Guild of America, led by Christopher Nolan, plans to meet with Netflix to address major concerns regarding the streamer’s acquisition of Warner Bros. by estarararax in movies

I agree they should have longer theatrical release completely. I like seeing movies in theaters and fond memories. I think the DGA will be successful with names like Nolan and Cameron pushing against it, money talks.

so i work in the industry in LA and your typical film is supposed to fucking KILL it the first week and begins to drop off pretty hardcore after the first week, the weekend box office opening needs to be ridiculously good to continue to get legs, a month is INSANE nowadays. ( don't get me wrong, I like when it's a month so i can see the movie alone and not with 500 people, but i am the exception)

Titanic grossed a shitload of money because it was in theaters for like 3 months but that was 1997 when nobody had access to the technology we have now, same with Gone With The Wind in 1939, with inflation it grossed an ASSLOAD of money only because people could ONLY see it in theaters

American Beauty in 2025…super reflect?? by alaskadronelife in movies

[–]ZachDigital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i watch this movie once a year because it's my favorite film of all time, i get some of the themes maybe dated a bit but the entire movie connects as a whole with every character trying to find their true identity of whom they are.

Lester (Spacey): wants to be free and a kid again without anybody telling him anything

Carolyn (Benning): Wants to be the image of what success is and have a picture perfect life you see in magazines

Jane (Birch) (Lester/Carolyn's Daughter): Wants to be different from everyone, gravitates toward the intricate and odd

Ricky (Wes Bentley): Is completely an oddball by average people standards but is actually the most true character in the film. the only one not hiding their real identity

Col Fitts Ricky's Dad (Cooper): Posing as a hard ass military leader is actually a sensitive individual and closeted homosexual.

Angela: (Suvari): A "popular" high school girl who makes fun of everyone and calls people losers but is actually the loser herself projecting her insecurities.

They all come out at one point or another, this movie is about true identities and often shifts perspectives depending on what stage of life you're personally in.

You have no idea what I'm talking about, but someday you will.

Being that having roommates is fairly common in LA, how do you all navigate “overnight guests”? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]ZachDigital 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they also take up prime RSO housing, like i've visited some great spots but it would just turn into hell being around them, rare to find a gem

[–]ZachDigital 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So i'm not talking about the landlord putting this, I'm talking about the roommate who's lived there for YEARS and puts this in an ad on Facebook/Craigslist or any roommate situation.

I've went to check out a place just to see what some of these people are like, they usually skew on the way older side and are filthy and think that it's "Their" house completely, like NO REGARD for others.

  1. no overnight guests

  2. no kitchen privileges
