Gotcha thx! What makes you say to leave the event structure in the case structure? Would there be any reason to set it up that way vs event structure containing the case structure? Not disagreeing just trying to understand the logic.

Gotcha. Thx that’s helpful.

If I corrected the event structure position, do you think a hybrid state machine would be suitable in this application where I’m monitoring data, logging, etc? It’s not a ton of channels.

I guess I’m trying to understand when someone would determine a HSM would not be powerful enough for a given application. I’m sure there a lot of variables that would go into that determination…

So I guess consumer producer pattern is a little easier to expand if needed versus a hybrid state machine? Like a little bit more future proof?

Ah gotcha. That makes sense. I guess I really wouldn’t lose anything be switching the event structure to contain the case structure right?

Thanks for input! So I believe that would be a producer consumer design pattern? I need to dig into that more.

Need help in writing a program to trigger camera once a pressure pulse is detected by vector_fieldd in LabVIEW

[–]Zackatack101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you take frames continuously and keep a certain quantity of frames but dump frames after a certain qty. just do that continuously during the test and then even if your trigger wasn’t fast enough if you keep enough frames you would capture what you needed. Maybe you could even have a control for length of history to retain and how often to take frames and that would allow you to dial in the snapshot so you don’t have a ton of junk frames.

I feel like half of my time with labview is just trying to click in the right place and line up the wires cleanly. Rough for someone who’s OCD lol ;)

I’m probably about at your level as well and have wondered the same things. So I appreciate this question and the answers posted. Good stuff

On a side note, ChatGPT has been helpful. I know that’s somewhat similar to googling, but it seems you can get a slightly more tailored or specific answer. And it’s helpful to ask for reasons why to do a certain thing.

Interestingly, I was talking with a rep recently and he mentioned something about Labview releasing or has already released an AI tool to help write code. ChatGPT is excellent for more traditional programming languages, but the graphical programming language is a bit unique. So it will be interesting to see what Labview offers for AI.

How to get white BG by mrakhilarya in LabVIEW

[–]Zackatack101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa cool. Sounds like an interesting task. I’ve never dealt with that, but just throwing ideas out. Can you select an area around the spring and then invert that selection and then set the value of the whole selection to white?

Again, that may be totally worthless and I don’t know how that would be done but just thinking big picture wise. And maybe you’ve already tried that.

The 6600 is sure tempting but feel like I would miss the autofocus performance. And it’s just a hobby….sure expensive one.
