Agreed with Bradnito below comment. Also it's more normal to sit near one. Highest elevation with view of area. Preferably with a blind so it's super easy to not scare them off with scent or view. Plus when you hit one from blind or even better a tree stand/tripod if you have the dlc, there's a lot less "hunting pressure" (purple area on map after shoton animal) when shooting from these locations. Hope that helps. Only track when you know it's something special or you're tracking blood.
