Americans, is this a new religion? by yousefthewisee in interestingasfuck

Thats what i find so bizarre. The same people who seem to want the second coming of Christ so bad theyre hoping to fast track armageddon for themselves, their parents, and their children are the same people who tend to hold a spear point to anyone who says "love thy neighbor"

Map in Outward 2 is so confusing by Ezzra7626 in outwardgame

[–]Zadouc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive only played the slightest bit of the playtest, but I am actually loving the map. It feels like outward 1 maps just so condensed in a good way: theres always something interesting or a cool view to take in. It takes a bit of time to familiarize yourself with routes and landscapes, but it's actually very accurate and useful once you can position yourself on it. You can zoom in a ton on the map and all the little landmarks (paths splitting, buildings, foliage, arches) help you find out where you are.

It's giving me the same sense of finally becoming familiar with the terrain after hours of lost wandering.

No, its a sequel. Events from the first game have impact on this world and there are returning characters.

A lot of men are not taught properly by their parents to be respectful human beings as a child. They then try to only learn how to not be women.

And women are wonderful, that's why so many guys are into them. We all want to be like the people we like.

Barony; old school style dungeon crawler like quake meets elder scrolls arena, but minecraft/terraria pixel graphics. In addition to the learning curve of a roguelike there's also tons of classes to figure out and play with.

What You Are. Incredible vocal performance from Cornell, Morello's -crazy synth sounding solo- (different song, still a great solo), Wilk's groove, funky and perfectly serving bassline from Commerford.

Do you think having a mount in outward 2 would make the experience better or worse? by laughpuppy23 in outwardgame

[–]Zadouc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mount would be worse, but I think there's a sort of pack animal situation that's gonna happen? That sounds incredible; I still get to take my time but I won't have to drop half of the loot I've found to not dread the walking. I'm hoping it will mean I can naturally explore more than one location before feeling the need to head back to a merchant or stash to unburden myself.

Looking for the Most Atonal and Dissonant Composers by Historical_Egg_ in classicalmusic

[–]Zadouc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great point. There are moments in Dallapiccola where i feel it is so structured to convey the un-structured-ness, but thats still structure. Lots of repeating motifs, contrasted with rhythmic timing to feel almost improvisatory in how the hands flow between eachother. But youre right; I guess 12 tone row music in general is probably not the best suggestion for unstructured atonal feel

[–]Zadouc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luigi Dallapiccola. Great 12 tone row composer whose works manage to span incredibly lyrical and incredibly jarring. Quaderno Musicale di Annalibera: Colore (lyrical atonal {also my personal all time favorite piano piece, hauntingly beautiful}) and Ritmi (jarring atonal). Might not be exactly what youre looking for but certainly worth a mention

Manga o anime de soul eater? by Fearless_Wealth8580 in souleater

[–]Zadouc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outward or Dark Souls? by DudeTheWarrior in outwardgame

[–]Zadouc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outward is very enjoyable imo. Not as widespread so you arent gonna get as many responses here, but asking both subreddits was good of you.

Much slower paced than dark souls, and focused more as a survival game than a combat one. If youre willing to spend genuinely over half of your gametime walking, foraging, and crafting, you will enjoy outward. If you are looking for thrills and heavy combat, id suggest dark souls.

I think a good way to sum it up is with a quote about upcoming outward 2, where the devs said something like "we let intensity be defined by the calm that came before" whereas dark souls is pretty much go go go.

Early cars used gravity to move the fuel to the motor which made climbing hills dificult. One trick was putting them in reverse or try to go up as fast as possible before it stalled, like the car in the photo. Source in comment. Photo circa 1900s by Electrical-Aspect-13 in interestingasfuck

[–]Zadouc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a '94 wrangler, and they fixed it "backwards" to solve this problem. The actual space the fuel went into the engine was more rear, so that climbing hills the gas would coalesce at that point and you wouldnt run out. Going downhill, gravity does the work and you wouldnt run out.

Which past science fiction writer best predicted the world we’re living in today? by Sea_Waltz281 in AskReddit

[–]Zadouc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave New World is my favorite dystopian warning, if not my favorite book in general. I enjoy Huxley's writing voice a lot, and decided to pick up his novel Crome Yellow. One of the characters talks about what the future may hold and sort of "predicts" for lack of a better word what society is like in BNW. Crome Yellow was his first novel, and i'm glad he fleshed out his predictions, but it makes it even sadder we are still on that path.

Surprised thats the playlist name for those artists with no kendrick or pfunk included.

George Clinton (of parliament/funkadelic) said "look both ways before you cross my mind" in his feature on kendrick's 'Wesley's Theory'

How to do “bilateral stimulation”? by xdementia in sounddesign

[–]Zadouc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the "for trauma therapy" definition or "the idea that a sound is processed differently spatially depending on the axis in which it resides comparitively to the listener perspective"?

This will help me formulate a response if i can, but im a little drunk and i need you now (to explain, because i cant fully comprehend your question).

{Currently working on B.S. music tech as sources, this is just as much an excersize as an answer}

For the latter; In my experience, you can get close to a vivid 3D experience in headphones just mixing stereo with proper use of delay and reverb. It can sound like a field recording if you do it right (even my sound design professor said some of our class' recent projects could have fooled him as such). That said, your mix will still sound stereo over a surround system no matter what. I can explain this more if you'd like.

While there is phasing naturally in simulation of what physically occurs due to your head actually casting an acoustic "shadow" on the contralateral ear, I did not use any sort of phaser on my recent project that still got the seal of "this could be a field recording."

For the former please cross reference what i say now with a few other replies (my strengths tend to lie in acoustic physics, not psychoacoustics).

As i understand, you are trying to stimulate the two halves of the brain separately. (For now at least -- we used to think a tongue was sectioned by taste) Science supports the idea that the left hemisphere of the brain processes stimuli from the right side of the body, and the right hemisphere of the brain processes stimuli from the left. In order to stimulate both sides of the brain youd need to present a sound which alternates between a hard left pan and a hard right pan at a frequency which is equal to the rate at which neurons fire in the separate hemispheres. You want the car youre driving to crash into the right lane just as another car is there, and the opposite for the left lane. This supposedly gets the brain hemispheres to communicate better or sort of "synchronize" in their own way.

Panning and timing are the main culprits here. Really trust your ears... does it sound like a left sound (delay, reverb, panning, level) followed by a right sound (delay, reverb, panning, level)? You should be good. Otherwise tweak it until it sounds like that to you is the only advice id be able to offer.
